He's the self-appointed "Opinion Police" of AZB. He fails to realize this is an OPEN FORUM full of opinions. He's always harping about someone's opinion not being backed-up by facts. Well, hate to tell the guy that opinions by definition are often not backed by facts. This has never stopped his full-out assault on ANYONE that doesn't meet his lofty standards. Put him on "Ignore". You'll thank me later.

For me the greatest instructor would be someone who could deviate from the norm. Someone who wouldn't simply teach well established ways to play the game, but who'd want to actively incite the learner to think and adapt by teaching unconventional tactics, less known rules, less accepted techniques to perform shots. I'm not saying that teaching what is widely used is a bad thing, but sticking only to that would be mind-numbing, at least for me. Breaking the usual routine by playing matches using different bar rules, going to bars with poor equipment, playing certain games where every shot must be a bank shot or where each stroke must be performed with break-shot speed, is something that would keep the student highly interested, focused, ready to adapt, and would ultimately lead to a deep understanding of pool itself.

Perhaps breaking the traditional mold is the way to go as long as there is a place to go with new model.

Scott CAN be that Person if that's what you want him to be. But who would want that?

Or, to anyone who wants improvement in his game, he can be a valuable voice that has tons of experience behind it for Knowledge and for Teaching that knowledge in effective ways. It cost me only a few hundred to get most of that for MY use for MY game, for MY shot. What a bargain! Of course, if I hadn't done the drills etc. that he taught me, it would have been a waste, so most of that is, once again, MY reaction to his teachings.

He's part of that team of teachers, randyg, et al, who have been doing their best to improve instruction and pool for anyone who wants to learn. I wanted to learn...still do. For those who don't? eh, that's their problem, not any teachers'.
