If so, what's your opinion on breaking or jumping with this 25 oz. cue? I'm so disgusted with not making a ball on the break I'm looking for help..Scatter balls all over the place..Just can't find a hole for even one ball 7 out of 10 breaks..

I'd compare them too J&J not bad for money

Practice making the one in the side by moving your contact point on the one ball around it until the one starts going in...

From there you can work on controlling the cue ball...

Watch some vids to help you.

The break cue doesnt make balls. Assuming you are getting a good rack, mess around with where you are putting the cb, where are hitting the head ball, and vary your speed. Different tables break differently, some like hard breaks, some like medium speed, some tables break better from the rail, some from the middle.
If its your home table, you can reset the rack area by replacing the spot, wiping the rack area down with a damp cloth, then rub it with the edge of a rack. Rack the balls and lightly tap them in and wait for it to dry.
If you just really want a new break cue, try a McD Stinger. Nice quality, and IMO good energy transfer into the cb.
Hope this helps

Sorry.. I should of been more clear...This is during league, 8 ball, bar table....

Try the side rail second ball break. Start off medium speed, then start upping your speed. Youll still find the table will have a sweet spot speed wise. Just make sure you are hitting the second ball as full as you can with a touch of draw.
Biggest thing is make sure the balls are racked well, so that they open. Making a ball is experimenting with what works best on that particular table from there.

He doesn't just make awesome cases ladies and gentlemen. The McD stinger really does transfer energy well. Ash and purple heart shafts do this also.

Personally I think 25oz is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too much for a cue. My break cue is actually lighter than my playing cue.

If your break is suffering during a match you should practice outside of the match. I'm not sure if I read that right but are you saying that you broke 10 times in a league match? If that is the case stop being lazy and practice your break a little during the week. Sorry for the tone but if I'm right maybe a little hard love will set you in the right direction.

During league I only break 2 times a night...In the last 4 weeks I've broke 8 times and only made a ball twice....The balls scatter good but none go in...So twice my opponent has run out after I broke dry and it's frustrating....Probably not the cue, a McDermott with a Samsara tip, but I'm just frustrated...
Never had luck with 2nd ball break but I'll try it again starting slow and working up as suggested...In desperation I was trying to blame the cue ..Thought maybe a 25oz cue would scatter them better ....
I practice 6 days a week and during practice I make balls on break a lot...Go to league and can't make one to save my life..Don't make sense...

Do you practice on the tables you normally play your league matches on? If you dont, you should. Again, a lot of it comes down to speed.
Another tip is this, if you are playing a run out player and you arent making balls on the break, use the side rail break and slow it way down. Purposely leave the balls as clustered as you can, because a Dolly Parton only helps your opponent.

I do practice on the tables we play on...I'm taking your advice Chuck...I'm going to practice breaking at different speeds....I like your idea of 2nd ball soft breaking to cause a cluster for run out players. I actually have thought about that before...In Vegas at BCA several years ago was watching players playing in the final 8...There was a guy soft breaking and leaving clusters...He did this throughout tournament...Worked for him...He finished 3rd..
I've been trying to make a ball because I get a lot of break and runs myself but when not making one on break it costs me a game sometimes..Appreciate all the advice....

It's not a Rage brand cue, but I put a second weight bolt in my Players J/B that put it up around 24-26 oz. I'm not a super speed breaker, but I get a good spread and usually make a ball or two in an 8 ball rack. I break the same as I do for 10 ball (patterned after SVB placement) and one of the two second row balls finds a side often. The debate on cue mass vs. speed will never end, but for me personally I like the extra weight and hard tip. I can focus on how/where I hit the rack and let the cue develop the power instead of trying to generate power through acceleration.

I understand your frustration. I had the same thing happen in a match the other night. I'm a 7 playing another 7 in APA and I had brought it back to 4-3...he was up 4-2 and on the hill..missed and I ran out. Well I broke and made nothing on the break and he ran out to win. A very frustrating feeling not to have another chance at the table. I will agree with Chuck on changing your break until you find what works on a particular table because they do indeed break differently. We don't play on bar tables in our league and I don't prefer bar tables unless it's a Diamond. I will say that a good break cue makes a difference, at least for me. When I got my BK2 my break and runs went up...sold it like an idiot. Now getting a BK3(will be here today) and can't wait. It's 18.75 oz though. I do not prefer a heavy break cue and find that it hurts my break...you may not find this to be the case though! Good luck to you! Try a light break cue just to see what it might do for you...18oz to 18.5oz..18.75...the Stinger chuck mentioned in 18oz hits em very well. I had one.
