The Real Reason For New "master's Dates

not sure what your intent with your post was but yes, i am a hack. i can shoot 180 in golf and pool, that makes me a hack. lets address the people that keep coming up with these new ideas about why the ipt won't work. you people make me sick! i'm puking as i type this because you guys are so ridiculous with your posts. if you had any idea of what you are trying to convince others of then you should do it yourselves. put your own money up. quit the damn crying. blackjack, gabber, why don't you guys figure something out for the players to do with their skills? you two seem to have it all figured out but where were you 6 months ago when this started? right here in the forum talking about something needs to be done about the image of the game and the money that the players are playing for. what the hell have you 2 done? besides bash others for making money, getting selected, not paying the dues to the wpaupabcanaacpuclauscnflmlbnba and all other bs that you can come up with. sit there in your chair behind your monitor and crash all the parties you can, this ipt don't need either of you. will you 2 be happy if it all folds tomorrow? so nobody makes a dime? then you'll be right, yeeeeeee-****in-ha. sick sick sick. how many phone calls have you received blackjack regarding your grand scheme of things? nothing, nada, zilch, wake up dude, you're in la la land. nobody cares what you say. you either gabber. you guys have nothing to offer the game, give up, pitch a tent, get your army together and come up with something good. losers! my name is billy h. and the h. stands for hung so low that the 2 of you would drool.

LOL.

You are just one of the Starry-eyed, 'I love Kevin" posters who cant see anything more to this than the cash.
I listened to KT's tape and was also impressed. He is good! He knows how to sell, I'll give him that.
Like a few others have mentioned, there is room for doubt that it will work. Just because we voice our concerns, doesnt neccessarily mean we are anti-IPT, but whenever we do, we are immediately jumped on by posters like yourself and your petty personal abuse crap.
What no-one has considered yet is that after a couple of years, the BEST players will be in the top 150 and every year, 50 of them will play in the Qs [ with the other top new players] trying to get back in. ie, less incentive for people like CC,R,B to enter. I dont mean any offence to these players but they are not active competitors and to my knowledge, havent won anything significant in the last 5 years.
KT gives the impression that everyone has a chance- the reality is they dont. Certainly not over 2 years from now.

Actually I believe that is exactly what the IPT wants. Only the very best players competing against each other. They have to play their very best to remain in the top 100. Top 42 for the really big money. Everyone fighting to stay in the IPT.

At the end of 2006 the bottom 50 will be replaced by another group of 50 who proved to be the very best. Then in 2007 there will be one very qualified, highly skilled, group of 150, playing for big bucks. And every match will be tough. There will be no cakewalks. The 2006 session will most likely still have some mismatches just because of the selection process and the unkown ability of the people selected. However, I suspect that KT had a pretty good background check on everyone he selected. So you better not shout; you better not pout; KT knows who's naughty and nice.

And who is to say that for 2008 the IPT doesn't go to a selection process of eligible applicants. Just like football, baseball, basketball etc do. And KT just picks the best 50 out there.

Gabber,
You're absolutely right about the 3 of us. Decent players, but I don't think any 3 of us don't think we've been blessed to get a run.

I also think the quality and depth of the IPT field, should it *crossed fingers* continue and thrive, explode with talent. We will struggle to hold our spots unless we improve a lot. I doubt more than 30% of current IPT players will still be there in 3 years.

I don't doubt there are 50+ players who attend this forum who couldn't give the IPT a fair run (ie. Get through a couple of rounds) in the next year or two if they had the opportunity and resources to put in 4-8 hours a day practice. But the cream will rise to the top after 2-3 years, and only superb play will get anyone there.

Ummm....I'm pretty sure straybullet was just providing you with a cool graphic.

Colin is a very good player, 8 ball is more suited to his game than 9 ball probably ever would be as thats his background. He worked full time like myself and was still a good player. If has been putting in the practice he says he has then I'm sure he has a good chance at doing well.

One of the risks you take when you share your achievments / identity on this forum is that you open yourself up to the critics. Nothing wrong with that of course, but too often the critics are the guys that haven't taken any risks, haven't tried to prove themselves, and more often that not, don't even reveal their real names!

I didn't make it on to the IPT Colin but I think it might be a blessing in disguise in the short term financially/career wise. BUT I wish you and all my other friends who did make all the luck in the world.

I,m sure Colin is a good player and I hope he does well but you know as well as I do , at the top level, the dif between winning and losing can be one or two balls.

The weak players in 2006 will be paving the way and setting the stage for the players in the future. Unfortunately, most of them will lose money as a lot of them will not finish in the top 75 in any tournament. And in all probability they will not even be allowed to enter qualifiers in 2006 since they already are an IPT member.

But then, if they don't make the cut in 2006, would they even want to try and qualify again?

It sure will be interesting to see how the 2006 season plays out.

We are guaranteed a minimum of $7000 in winnings in 2006 plus profit sharing. And in all probability they will not even be allowed to enter qualifiers in 2006 since they already are an IPT member. I think we will be allowed to re-qualify, as the Q is being held after the regular season is over and the prize money is tallied.

But then, if they don't make the cut in 2006, would they even want to try and qualify again? For myself, no, I will not try to requalify, unless they have a women's Q. I doubt you will see very many women placing in the top 100 after this year. I will just have to root on my husband and hope he can make it into the top 100.

It sure will be interesting to see how the 2006 season plays out.

Please don't take this the wrong way but.................if you're already accepting the fact that you won't be in the top numbers to keep a card and you say you won't try to qualify when you're stint is over.................why play???????

Why not give up your spot for someone that realistically is going to have a chance to make money on this tour and change their life for the better.

If it's just for the chance to say that you were one of the first and you really don't have a chance.................then you're just denying someone else the opportunity for your own ego.

Are you nuts? My spot may be taken soon enough. I have paid my dues in pool. Why SHOULDN'T I be allowed this one year to play with the best? I'm not out there for my own ego, I am out there to do battle.

As I have said before elsewhere, I do have a winning pedigree in 8ball. I have run 6 consecutive racks on an 8 footer. However... I have a very demanding fulltime job, and going to school at night for my master's with 2 kids. If I quit my job and school, played fulltime, and brought my game up even to Karen's and Allison's, I may still not make the top 100.

The reality is, I applied and was granted this chance. I look at it realistically. I have played in the WPBA, I have been #1 on my regional tour and in the finals of our State Championships, which included Canadians and out of staters. I have won several qualifiers and numerous other tournaments. I have nothing to lose by playing in the IPT, so I will come out slugging, and maybe I will make it as one of the 100. (If you look at the original post, it said IF they don't make the cut). And this first year, KT wanted women on it. So that's basically it.

There is another member from our area that was a total shock to be selected who is a SL6 I think on the APA. His only credential is that he qualified to go to a national APA sponsored tournament. Do you think he is going to give up his spot???? It's not about ego. It's about walking down the hallowed halls of history with the greats, playing across from them, and maybe, wonder of wonders, even playing my best against them for one moment in time.

Your first question could be debated.

Either you read what I wrote and didn't understand it or.....you ARE taking it the wrong way.

I'm not trying to get into any kind of debate about it. I was commenting to statements you made. It seems you're not looking to WIN........but just maybe do OK here and there in a match once in a while.......so why not give up your spot?

I commend you on your achivements and wish you luck.

We're all looking to win. I am not giving up my spot and neither is anyone else considered to be in the bottom 50 at this time. We will give them up when the results are in and we are forced to. Case closed.

I never heard anything as stupid as someone wanting you, or any other player, to drop out because they think that you, or they, don't have a chance against Reyes. You had the guts, determination, skill, ambition and confidence to put in your application when all those other weak kneed sissies were sitting on the sideline giving themselves excuses not to. Or they were putting KT and the IPT down. Now, because they failed to apply they want you to give up and become a loser like themselves. Utter nonsense.

Even if you never, ever win a match in 2006 you will still be way ahead of all the nay sayers who now are criticizing the qualifiers. I am sure that it will be an enjoyable experience. One that you will remember forever. Will most likely be recorded on tape. And one that might very well open up other opportunities for you.

And keep in mind that even long shots win horse races from time to time.

I suppose since Dotson and Hall didn't win a game against Reyes they should pack their cues and quit. Ridiculous.

Gerda beat Strickland - I guess he should quit too.

One thing for sure. You have a much greater chance of doing well in the upcoming tournaments than the people who were too lazy, or stupid, or afraid to turn in an application.

Jake

Jake, Jake, Jake,

YOU CAN TRY AND FOOL EVERYONE ELSE WITH THE STUPID ACT YOU PUT ON..................................but I'm not going for it.

I know you're way smarter than that.

If there was a Q tourney with the top unknowns from all over the world, do you think Rackm, Bernie, Colin etc would have a chance? [ cant wait to see Bernie play:eek: ]
Would they be willing to put up a grand against the top players in a straight tourney?

If the IPT program works, you will see a great change in who is at the top in the pool world.

Gabber

I ran into that Bernie from Long Island,,, he put an 8 pack on the horse and took down the cheese in a 10 ahead match... That Bernie rolls that cigar pretty good and methodically sends those little rocks home dead center pocket on a triple shimmer while having one eye set on that Rebecca!!!!!

smile :)
