So there I was, running my drill son my GCIII with the subrails modified to 141.3625 degrees, with a 15.57125 down angle, when I figured out exactly what I was doing wrong!

I had been applying TOI with just a touch of back hand English, when stroking with my (Monster)(for sale by the way), LD shaft with a helium filled ferrule. When I should have been using CTE with front hand English, hitting every shot with the butt end of the cue, a loose grip and my eyes closed.

I figured it took me 6 million ways to finally run 526 balls trying to break Mosconi's record. BTW, Einstein was wrong, there are twice as many shots, because I used the butt end of the cue.

I finally did miss because the joint pin that was installed 0.00025625" to the left, effected shot 527. So I guess the record still stands.

So now I need to build another SLDSHD (Super Low Deflecting Shaft in High Definition) made with an EFF (Eagle Feather Ferrule) for GWR (Greater Weight Reduction). Shaped like an egg so it will only deflect on one third of the tip. I figure I will call it the Humpty Dumpty.

So now when I use TOO ( touch of outside)'with front hand English, I can compensate with CTC (Center to Center) and hopefully make the middle of the pocket. If this doesn't work I will just go back to using the butt end of the cue.

Anyway back to practice, maybe one day I will figure out where my problem lies!!!

Back to your regularly scheduled program.

Aloha

My feelings exactly. I feel sorry for the guy or gal new to pool and reading the forum on how to do anything in pool. It will hold you back from getting any better for years. People new to pool need one guy that teaches the basics with no fluff and a book that tells you the basic way to stand and aim with pictures. JMO. There is some good info on here and a lot of "you got to do it my way" on here. Johnnyt

I tried your system for 5 minutes, here's the result!

I need ten characters in my post. All I really wanted to leave was this:

+1

I was going to buy a custom cue but I keep hearing they take your money and never send you the cue.

I was going to buy a table but then I will have a pool table mechanic living in my driveway for 3 months...if he shows up at all.

I was going to take lessons but I have to try and find someone BCA certified which I hear requires $1.99 and two proofs of purchase from a box of Master chalk. That's the flag chalk, thank you very much.

I was going to head down to my local pool hall but I hear they just have bar boxes and I'm supposed to be above that nonsense.

So...I'll just hang out here. What the hell. Pool is dead anyway.

All of these post match my feelings as well. I quit playing pool in 1998 due to poor eyesight. I got Lasik in November and picked up my Meucci and started playing again. I played ok, but I wanted to improve.

So I bought a lot of DVD's and books. What I have found is none of those really helped me much, only thing that has started improving my game is hours at the table. I spend at least 2~3 hours a day practicing and play 3 tournaments and 1 league a week. My game is getting better, but I wished I had saved my money and not bought all those DVD's..

Everyone learns differently, but I think hours at the table are the best way to improve.

I was just being sarcastic. When I first started reading this forum I found lots of negativity. Not that everyone is negative but those voices seem to dominate a little more than they should.

Pool is a great game. There are good people in this industry. You just have to squint a little to see them among the crowd of detractors.

I agree with you that there is just no substitute for time at the table. For me, at my beginning level, that means lots and lots of drills day in and day out.

My "Zero-X" instruction DVD has helped me in just about every way possible at improving my shooting abilities. Also my book from Dr. Dave is fantastic. That was a couple of years ago but I still refer back to them once in a while.:)

I am fairly new to this forum and I can see how it can be confusing for new players, some of the instruction should be taken lightly. I do enjoy the how would you shoot this posts and the drills.

This is so on point!

It's fairly simple, you WILL find what you're looking.

If you're looking for posts littered with TOI and pool stories from yesteryear then you will find it.

If you're looking for good/bad info about a cue builder/table mechanic, then you will find it.

If you're looking for a stream to watch/place to sweat a pool match, then you will find it.

If you're looking for people who like to bicker/complain about everything, then you will find it.

If you're looking for people who learn differently but want to assume there is only one way to learn/play, then you will absolutely find it.

I'm a B+ player, and I don't even know what most of the backhand english, fronthand, CTE, etc, etc are. I just know how to play pool, my assumption is I do most of these things but I do it subconsciously. I don't learn by reading (that's ok) I learn by doing and don't care about the reasons why I do, what I do, works. Others learn better by reading (thats ok too) and then taking that knowledge/information to the table. Some enjoy the aspect of the process and learn better by understanding that process.

So maybe, you're looking for the wrong stuff.

PS. It is fun to go into one of the soap opera threads tho, the antagonists on this site are something to behold.

Vent

Please, Feel free to vent your frustations.

This forum is like a collective bargaining agreement at best sometimes.

Negativity can preside over the good information out there.
Hopefully it does not get so bad that searching and sorting through/past it does not get too tiresome.

Short commercial break....

So now I am still confused as to who the teacher really is. I thought the game was the teacher, then I let the pocket be the teacher, the rail was the teacher for a while, but I didn't like its negative out look on the game so I bruised it...

BTW,
How do you respond to a rail with two black eyes....
Shoot harder and hope you don't miss a third time...

Anyway back to the teacher. I tried to let my cougar girlfriend be the teacher, but I suffered from performance anxiety. With all these teachers out there, it is hard to know who to trust. Maybe someone can recommend a professor with more credibility then this ever changing teacher. I think I will keep my eyes open for Professor Imagination. Maybe he will have some insite to the nuances of this game.

As the saying goes...
In order to have clear vision, one must first focus their imagination...

I couldn't help but notice your lack of a consistent PSR.
