The real way to AZB

Just get a lesson and you will be right as rain.

So there I was, running my drill son my GCIII with the subrails modified to 141.3625 degrees, with a 15.57125 down angle, when I figured out exactly what I was doing wrong!

I had been applying TOI with just a touch of back hand English, when stroking with my (Monster)(for sale by the way), LD shaft with a helium filled ferrule. When I should have been using CTE with front hand English, hitting every shot with the butt end of the cue, a loose grip and my eyes closed.

I figured it took me 6 million ways to finally run 526 balls trying to break Mosconi's record. BTW, Einstein was wrong, there are twice as many shots, because I used the butt end of the cue.

I finally did miss because the joint pin that was installed 0.00025625" to the left, effected shot 527. So I guess the record still stands.

So now I need to build another SLDSHD (Super Low Deflecting Shaft in High Definition) made with an EFF (Eagle Feather Ferrule) for GWR (Greater Weight Reduction). Shaped like an egg so it will only deflect on one third of the tip. I figure I will call it the Humpty Dumpty.

So now when I use TOO ( touch of outside)'with front hand English, I can compensate with CTC (Center to Center) and hopefully make the middle of the pocket. If this doesn't work I will just go back to using the butt end of the cue.

Anyway back to practice, maybe one day I will figure out where my problem lies!!!

Back to your regularly scheduled program.

Aloha

If you can find me a qualified, instructor on the Islands I would be more then happy to take some lessons. How about I buy them in a ten pack and spread them out over the next 6-8 months. Let me know if your up for the challenge. I'm sure someone could use a break from all the cold. Let me know.

Speaking of rain that's all it's done over here for the past week or so, I think I'm loosing my tan, or maybe just too much time in the pool room.

My best friend lives in Honolulu most of the time, so it won't be long

Cj,

Btw, when are you coming over to Hawaii to give some lessons? Let me know if you do.

The chances are very good, even this year.

I really respect Hawaii and have been there many times, especially the Big Island.

Actually one of the times was to get married on the north shore of Kauai......had to take a "mulligan" on that one though. ;)

My best friend lives in Honolulu most of the time, although he's been living in Dallas on business the last year. When he goes back I'll probably come over for a couple of weeks, which will probably be 6-9 months from now.

Aloha, and Play Well.

Cj,
Shoot me a message if your headed this way, pool, golf and fishing are all great ways to kick back. Let me know.

I skipped straight to the end. Also to AZB properly, Shane is the best pool player to have ever lived, past present and future. in 5000 years they will still be on here talking about all the guys he beat in races to 100 for the cash after they beat him in tournaments. Either that or how everyone ducked him which made him the default G.O.A.T. and variance.

I might be inclined to ask what this has to do with the price of Ahi in Japan?

Or are you trying to tell me that Shane is the teacher, maybe he would fly over to Hawaii and give me lessons, someone get Jay on here and see if we can set this up.

Aloha

Does Hawaiian Brian give lessons on 9 ball at $100.00 per game?

That's Akamai right there, do not know the answer to that. It could be possible, although his pool hall is on a different Island, and the one in Alaska closed up years ago. I will look into this, might have to go Island hopping for lessons.

I may have to just shoot with the butt end of the cue for a while, until I figure this out, or Cj, or Scott, or some other qualified instructor decides to visit the Islands.

May be time for a mainland trip.

If you're looking for lessons in Hawaii, look up Kurt Kobayashi and Neil Fujiwara.

I will call around and see if I can locate them. mahalo for that. If anyone has any contact info, let me know.

You forgot to work in the word "rare", that's probably the most overused word on AZB if there ever was one. Maybe:

"when stroking with my rare one of a kind (Monster)(for sale by the way)"

You might be on to something. :yeah:

It's fairly simple, you WILL find what you're looking.

If you're looking for posts littered with TOI and pool stories from yesteryear then you will find it.

If you're looking for good/bad info about a cue builder/table mechanic, then you will find it.

If you're looking for a stream to watch/place to sweat a pool match, then you will find it.

If you're looking for people who like to bicker/complain about everything, then you will find it.

If you're looking for people who learn differently but want to assume there is only one way to learn/play, then you will absolutely find it.

I'm a B+ player, and I don't even know what most of the backhand english, fronthand, CTE, etc, etc are. I just know how to play pool, my assumption is I do most of these things but I do it subconsciously. I don't learn by reading (that's ok) I learn by doing and don't care about the reasons why I do, what I do, works. Others learn better by reading (thats ok too) and then taking that knowledge/information to the table. Some enjoy the aspect of the process and learn better by understanding that process.

So maybe, you're looking for the wrong stuff.

PS. It is fun to go into one of the soap opera threads tho, the antagonists on this site are something to behold.

Big Island (Kona)

Cj,
Shoot me a message if your headed this way, pool, golf and fishing are all great ways to kick back. Let me know.

What island do you live on, it's likely I'll be in Honolulu the latter part of this year. I usually go to the Big Island (Kona) for a few days, it's always been my favorite.

808 is over on the Hilo side of the big Island, have not seen the Kurt there yet but I missed the added Tourny they held in Jan. He might have come over from Oahu for that. Don't know.

Aloha

(808) 636-0551, just started getting back into playing and giving lessons is one of my favorite passions. Sorry I didn't see this post earlier, I'm free Tues/Thurs nights and all day Sunday just give me a heads up where and when you'd like to meet up. Please have an idea on what you would like to work on, a list would be great. Thank you so much!!

Neil

Edit: Just read that you're on the Big Island which makes things a little interesting, are you ever on Oahu for any reason and we can get together then? I heard the next 808 Billiards tournament is coming up in the next couple of months, perhaps I can come up a day early or something and we can work something out then? Just let me know, thank you.
