the tip

Can some of you more knowledgeable attempt to educate, advise, or just give your thoughts on the matter of what's going on with my tip and what action should be taken?

Hercules medium I have
One pictured has been played only a handful of times
The other is obviously been used daily

The heavily used one feels almost like it sticks to the balls now, even leaves those marks on freshly cleaned balls

I switch to the unused shaft, tip hit feel is minimal, much more accurate cueing, just complete opposite

I took the used one to work once, trimmed its mushrooming and shaped it with my tip shaper
But it's returned to dull pretty quickly

Is this tip ready to be replaced?
Will reshaping at this point be pointless as its had so much impact already?

I've asked Ron kilby ,who made these, about it before and will again but I'm curious to see what others think, as I have no clue

looks to me you have plenty of layers left but you have too flat a radius..
instead of dime or nickel

The "smudge" on the ball looks strange, almost oily?
I'd say remove the tip - it look like it has enough layers left but flattens out way too quickly.
The 2nd pictues looks fine as to the curvature.

From your tips it looks like they were not installed using a lathe and are not 100% flush with the ferrule.
I'd suggest you go somewhere where they do it that way and properly sand and seal the side of the tip, too. That will add to stability, too.

Like that:

Curious to know what tip the rest of you believe to be the longest lasting, least maintenance needing one you've played with

I really don't know what a hard tip is, one of my pool cues had what I was told was a tiger Everest tip, had 1 layer that was red
Seemed to be pretty hard, I hated it at first, but didn't play with it long enough to see if it mushroomed or any other effects

go buy a few tips of various hardness and try them out
let us know your experience

I had a kamui medium installed today, so we'll see how this one goes

im currently starting my own tip repair journey, and its kickin my ass, so i will continue to have this local guy do my tips till i get better

I'm not sure if it's this tip or it's the shape but accuracy is up!

And it also marks up the balls worse than any tip I've used so far

Playing pool with it though, felt very very firm, a feel I've never had before, love this tip for playing any game

I know you started playing Carom (3 cushion) Billiards and I am playing 3 times ,a week using my regular pool cue, 11.75mm tip and the original Everest tip. What tip do most of the good 3 cushion players use and how much curvature of the tip ?
