Ive taken note of Cris Delagarza's win in the singles in a different thread, but she was just one of several AZB women that distinguished themselves this past week in Vegas.

WPBA touring pro and AZB poster Liz Ford teamed up with fellow New Yorker Mark Vidal to win the Masters Scotch Doubles event.

New York's own and frequent AZB poster GG11 was on the team that won the women's open team event.

AZBer Milo and her team in the Women's Masters event reached the final, which was still in progress when I went to sleep last night, at 1:00 AM. Hopefully, Milo will see this thread and let us know how it turned out.

So, it's not just Cris but four of our esteemed female posters who distinguished themselves at the BCA's.

Well done, Cris Delagarza, GG11, Liz Ford and Milo. You've made us all proud to be your fellow posters.

Our finals match lasted til 2 am. WE WON!!!!! 21-10.:)
The team from Illinios is a very strong team. And a great bunch of ladys. My team consisted of Cindy Doty,Jackie Fitchner,Mary Hopkin,Liz Cole, and myself. We have been playing together for 3 years, and it keeps on getting better and better!!!!!:)
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE PLAYING WITH THESE GIRLS!!!!!
We have all become very good friends, and winning this event with people I care about makes it extra special.
We played for 16 hours on Saturday, which made it a VERY long day.
I definately ran out of steam. My team mates held me up and played fantastic!!!!! My contribution was minimal,(in the finals) without going into a long story.:o I did win a hill/hill match for 3rd/4th to keep us alive.
My time in Vegas is something I will remember for a long time.
I HAD A BLAST!!!
(and winning the event wasnt too bad either:D)
Whenever you win an event with the talent that was in this division, it feels extra special because a number of teams could of won this event. It just happened to be us this year.
Thanks for the support SJM, and it was very nice meeting you.

Sidenote: I finally met Trigger!!!! She is a sweetheart. We didnt get time to hang out due to our tournament schedule, but I did see her play.(She plays very well. I was definately very impressed!!!!)
Melinda, sorry we didnt spend any time just hanging out. For sure next year.

Congratulations on the win! I think you're probably being a little too modest, though.;)

Well done, Milo. Great shooting! On Saturday night, I had a dinner date and we then went to see Jay Leno's show at The Mirage. When I got back to the Riviera and sneaked a peek in the tournament room, it was nearly 1:00 and, as my plane home was just six hours away, I knew I'd better get at least some rest so I went to sleep. Sorry I missed your great victory. Congratulations.

Ive taken note of Cris Delagarza's win in the singles in a different thread

She beat fellow Rochester resident Angie Killips for the "hot seat". Angie finished third.

This is my pet peave. How can a touring, regular member of the WPBA be allowed to play in a BCAPL AMATUER event? Sorry, this sucks! What's next? The Black Widow playing with Satman in the Master's? If this trend continues, BCAPL, USAPL, CSI or whatever they are calling themselves should just drop the "Amatuer" label and be honest!

Respectfully, my friend, I beg to differ.

This year, Mark Griffin did everything in his power to make the bar table events accessible to the pros, adding some new events.

The top women's singles event had Allison Fisher, Kelly Fisher, Kim Shaw, Melissa Little, and other pros. The top men's division had Shane Van Boening, Roberto Gomez, Rodolfo Luat, Max Eberle and other pros.

Put simply, these new events were not amateur events, nor did Mark Griffin try to suggest that they were. These were pro events in which amateurs wishing to play were welcome.

Jay Helfert has already posted to this effect, and I agree, that the addition of these events was a huge positive that made the already impressive show at the BCAs even better.

The inclusion of pro level bar table events is very good for our sport and the supplemental income it offered pro players in these tough economic times was, I'm sure, a godsend for many.

Ahhh, what do you know? I heard you're 16 years old and just picked up the cue this year. ;)

j/k! SJM is a seasoned fella who's input and opinion I greatly respect. Thanks for the updates and input sjm. Sounds like Vegas was more fun to attend than the Open, and every bit as good as the Derby (depending on what you're playing for and looking for).

I thought it was awesome they were allowed to play in the Grand Masters Division!

I beg to differ with you. The Grand Masters is an Amatuer event. Players in that event are elgible to play on an OPEN team as a Master player. As in all the events at the BCAPL's, entries were down. Allowing the "pro's" to play did suppliment both the Pro's and the BCAPL's income. How about the best of the Amatuer players? How did they like facing a growing list of Pro's allowed in the event? If any of them wanted to withdraw, were they allowed to do so without financial penalty? Don't you think it's time to re-define what a professional pool player is?. That is my real question!

Thank you very much!!! For you to take the time to report on the Vegas tournament proves how much you support the sport. I commend you sir!!!!!
I truly appreciate the support you showed to me.:)

Isnt this sport AWESOME!!!!!! I feel very lucky to be a part of it!!!!!:)

Actually, now we're kind of on the same page, Lyn. It's time to call the Grand Masters division of the 8-ball extravaganza a pro event. You're right that the wrong impression is created.

I just think that the inclusion of the pros is great for the pros, great for our sport, and watching the pros interact so much with the amateur players was a treat these eyes have rarely seen in decades of watching pool.

Congrat's on your win!! And it was great to finally meet you! :)

I could very well be wrong about this but I believe that the touring pros have ALWAYS been eligible for the Grand Masters Division. In the past, none have played in the BCAPL event if they were playing in the Predator International 10-ball event because the tournaments were during the same times. This year, the BCAPL fixed the schedule to allow the Grand Masters Division to finish before the predator event began.

I'm not usually think frank about things but I am really sick of people on these forums assuming all decisions that tournament & tour organizers make are out of selfish greed and soley to make money. Times are hard for everyone right now so if they can make it a better product AND they happen to make a little more money which in turn helps secure the future of this event, why not do it?

I'm sure the "extra" money they made from the handful of pro players that added to the event was a drop in the bucket compared the the number of league players that were already registered.

I wasnt going to post to this, but I think maybe I should. I am a National Master,(have been for 8 years) and the idea of playing against these talented girls in the future definately inspires me. My perspective might be different, but I dont think so. I think most players welcome the idea of competing against the pros.
In my opinion, the pros being a part of this event makes it very exciting!!!!!!
ITS GOOD FOR THE SPORT!!!! :)

Example: Jennifer Barretta was on the NY team we played against, and I had the honor of playing against her. It certainly got me in gear. BTW, I won my game against her.:) I think the pros possibly bring out the best in some of us.:)

No sorry, We beat that hot NY team.:D;) They ended up 3rd. Very nice team. Great players and good sports.:)

Kiss Of Death won the Open Tournament which includes:
Gail Glazebrook, Borana Andoni, Emily Duddy, Olga Gashkove, Alison Fischer and Michele Li.

THe other new york team that plays in the Masters came in third.
