Brackets are posted at http://www.wpba.com/cms/?pid=1005907 for WPBA Michigan City. It is very impressive that the brackets are already posted, and it is, hopefully, an omen that visitors to WPBA.com over the next few days will get more timely information about match results than was offered during the WPBA Carolina Classic.

The biggest news is that Pan Xiaoting has drawn Allison Fisher.

Our AZB Ask the Pro columnists have drawn these opponents: 1) Sarah Rousey plays Dawn Fox, 2) Melissa Herndon plays Maureen Seto, and 3) Jennifer Barretta plays Helene Caukin. Regular poster Tina Pawlowski (Girlwon1) has drawn Jennifer Chen.

Finally, I'm pleased to note the return of Sharon Weis to WPBA play. Sharon was ranked in the mid-twenties a few seasons ago, but has been unable to play the tour for quite a while now. I wish her good luck.

C'mon Tina!

This would be a real nice feather in the cap.
We're rooting for you.

The GY-Kim vs Liz Ford should be interesting to watch.... GYK plays fast.... Liz has a good game but paint dries faster than she plays. :p

Liz has played in the 1st two Tiger Planet Pool events this year. I haven't had a chance to talk to her too much (more this wkend than in the other event) but she seems to be soft spoken and has always been very nice when I've been around her.

SJM, is the shot clock only used for the tv rounds on the WPBA?

No, Timberly, this is not the case. Assuming the same rule is in play as in past years, it works like this for the non-telelvised matches, all of which are races to nine.

Each match has a time allotment (normally two hours). Unless eight racks have been completed once half of the allotted time has elapsed (normally the one-hour mark from the start of the match), both players go on the shot clock.

I love this approach, and it explains why WPBA events nearly always remain on or close to schedule.

FWIW, I'll be there for both sessions on Saturday and I'll attempt to get some pictures of the AZ pros/regulars and get them up when I return on Sunday. Of course, this assumes that I'm smart enough to figure out how to use my new digital camera :)

Enjoy, Dustin. I'll bet you will have a grand old time!

SJM,

I will place Sharon Weis in top three for her looks ( very pretty lady).I am glad to know that is back.I hope that her friend from Providence, RI also returns to the tour. Sarah rousey will beat Dawn Fox 9-4.Dawn is from ohio.

No doubt, you are referring to Nicole Mancini. To the best of my knowledge, Nicole will not return to the WPBA tour.

Hope you're well, Vagabond, and I hope to see you at the BCA Open.

Time to play the prediction game. Over the past three months, Karen Corr has really been in stroke. She was the only woman to advance past the IPT King of the Hill first round, she took Dennis Hatch to double hill at the Joss Tour Championships and she won the WPBA Carolina Classic.

In view of all this, I'll pick Karen Corr to win in Michigan City.

I got 50$ VM$$

on the little devil. She just went undefeated through the world championships again.

Is there anyone onsite at the WPBA tournament who plans on posting updates to the AZB forum like the last tournament. One of our local girls is playing in the WPBA events this year and we're just dying to know status updates and the WPBA website was SLOW last month. Any updates other than the WPBA bracket updates are much appreciated!

Thanks!

Hey Timberly,
Just reviewed the brackets, no results shown on the LF vs GYK match on the winners side; but, on the 1 loss side you can see GYK's next opponent.

It appears to me that Liz Ford defeated Ga-Young Kim in the first round.

"Have a nice day",
Lamar

WPBA has revised the brackets & now shows GYK defeated LF.
Just hoping WPBA can get their S___ to gether.

It is great to see Sharon is back in action, I wondered what had happened to her. She actually taught me how to rack to reduce the chance of the 9 going in!

Has Allison ever lost a WPBA tournament first round match before??

I believe the answer is no. Allison, who debuted toward the end of the 1995 WPBA season, never lost to an useeded player until Tiffany Nelson beat her at WPBA Baltimore 2000. She has lost to an unseeded player less than five times in her career in any round of WPBA play.

Unseeded Angel Paglia beat Allison at the 2003 WPBA US Open, but I seem to recall that it was in the second round, not the first.

Allison went down 9-7 to Pan, who then defeated Tracie Hines 9-6. She next plays Kim White, who beat Kim Shaw 9-8.

Another upset had Tiffany going down to Hsin Huang 9-5. Wendy Jans knocked Sarah Ellerby out of the A-side in the first round 9-5. Jans now plays Kelly Fisher.

Tina, unfortunately, went down to Jennifer Chen 9-1.

Ga Young Kim will play Sarah Rousey next.

There are some interesting second round and possible third round matches:
Lee vs. Laurance (with the winner possibly playing Thornfeldt)
Vivian could run into Jennifer B. (which I hate because they're two of my favorites)
Melissa Herndon battles Laura Smith, with the winner playing (most likely) Karen.

Obviously, the brackets have been updated on the wpba site, but I thought I'd share what I have considered to be interesting.

Thanks,
I'll pass this info around.
Did she also advise how to rack your own?

I never thought you would stoop this low!!!

Hey lamar,
It is pretty common knowledge, I just didn't know and she was kind enough to show me "some ropes". I have shown a few newer players myself, including your firend Angela. =)

Hey, did you take a close list at the IPT player list, that is our Mr. Moore playing over there!
