Things Are Indeed Getting Better

Just got back from seeing my surgeon this morning. Great news.....no more slings....my arm had been given it freedom.

So naturally I asked about pool playing and was slightly disappointed but not crushed. I was told I can't really use my right arm involving any weight whatsoever for the next 3 months.
I pointed out that my cues are barely over a pound and he smiled & said maybe by my next apptmt. At the present, no pool playing because of my labrum resection and the pool swing
motion involves tendons & labrum. My physical therapist predicted last week I'd be playing pool again in a month and it is starting to look that way.

The month of May promises to be a great month......hopefully get the okay to resume pool playing again and the arrival of a couple of new cues. I've been getting progress pictures
over the past few weeks on one particular cue underway and it's looking good. And tonight..... I get to sleep in a real bed......no more sleeping in the recliner chair like the past 11 weeks.
So as you can see from this thread's title, "Yes", absolutely yes.....things are indeed getting better.

Great news, glad to hear it.

Progress is progress. Pool will come.

Don't be stupid and rush it, but at the same time pursue recovery. Your PT should be a big help.

Glad to hear it, Matt. I know you've got the itch, but
don't scratch it too soon. Hopefully you'll be playing
again soon.....and no more surgeries. :)

larry

So good to hear things are going well for you!

Take your time healing now, theres no need to hurry and break something again

Please post some pics when you get the cues, I love your designs

an opportunity

might be a good time to practice playing left handed a little.I think it would be very handy to play both hands I.m just too lazy to practice, good luck!

No weights to be used for 3 more mths (home therapy w/only arm/shldr movement). I resume w/physical therapist on 7/15 (re: strength development).

When forming a right handed bridge so I could shoot pool left handed, my right shoulder tendons & repaired labrum would just hurt too much to even to
outstretch my arm at this stage. Presently, I can't lift & extend point straight so imagine if I used a pool bridge. Anyway, TX for the suggestion 15cherries.

Kimmo H......I debated posting any progress photos of my cues underway because of prior experience with some obtruse Azers that tend to chime-in
with condescending observations. Anyway, here's a preview of the different inlays being used for one of the cues. I'm anxious to see how it turns out.

Matt, don't let the haters force you to not enjoy the product you are paying for. I love seeing your cues in progress, I don't care if anyone else doesn't appreciate them. Also, you know I'm not a Ivory joint or ferrule guy, never tried either til today. I picked up a Searing shaft for my Runde and it is amazing, never hit with a shaft with so much "power and finesse". I know how much you love cues, you have to get one. If you need to get your fix, play pool left handed and use a bridge. Otherwise take a bridge head to the hardware store and buy a dowel you can cut down to a few inches so it is like a tripod. You never know, that left hand stroke may become very valuable down the road. I'm glad you are well on your way to recovery and wish the best. Tom

Listen to your surgeon and physical therapist. I knew someone who didn't after ankle surgery and he's paying the price. Pool well always be their.
Hopping you have a full and speedy recovery.

Good deal... I'm glad things are going well for you. If you adhere to the Doctor's wishes, you might be glad you did. Pool isn't going to go away & it won't take long to catch up.

Get well soon...

Glad to hear some good news. You'll be playing before you know it.
When I first began experiencing MG there were two object balls (double vision). If there had been three object balls then I could have used the Three Stooges strategy and shot at the one in the middle. No such luck. After the Neuro put me on the necessary medications the double vision has since resolved.
I did ask her if the meds would allow me to play the piano. She said yes, they would. I said great because I never could play one before. She just stared at me.
