think how funny tennis antics would be in pool if Shane acted like a

alphadog

Just watched my fav Serena win another grandslam title.
Imagine SVB yelling and pumping his fist after a good break! Grunting
and shuffling his feet after a good draw shot, or combo.
Tennis antics are crazy.

It's not really an antic. Same concept as exhaling when you exert force in weightlifting. Those grunts are for power. Pool doesn't really exert any physical energy, just mental energy.

Take Earl and his antics. He's just crazy.....like a fox.

Football is worse. Imagine doing the Ickey Shuffle after nailing a bank, or lassoing a cow after a nice combo.

What people do during sports competition are the result of how each sport has evolved over many years.

It shouldn't be expected that folks act the same way in all sports.

I always hear "______ is why pool isn't a major sport". And it's ALWAYS something that's very common in major sports. lol

Face it, pool is BORING! Keep it "classy", keep it dead.

That would be hilarious ......

Football is about "look at me" in a teamsport.
Frustrating that kids play Madden etc. and learn the antics.
Wish they could learn to tackle

Have to call bs on this one (at least the way it's done by Sharapova and Azarenka). Funny how Sharapova will grunt until the opponent hits the ball, but if she whacks one into the net, her grunt suddenly stops as soon as the ball hit the net. Takes the same degree of force to hit the ball, so why does the grunt terminate so quickly with one and not the other? It's a complete sharking move and it's getting annoying as hell. But, until the players complain, en masse, nothing will happen.

I couldn't help but think of Mark Wilson's comments about tattoos when Scott Frost was playing on the TV table earlier. He said something to the effect of how Scott's tattoo was unprofessional and hurts the industry. He said it needs to have more class to draw money into the sport. Scott Frost is not applying to be an office receptionist anytime soon. Players in the NBA, NFL, UFC etc are covered from head to toe in tats and are idolized, respected, hated, whatever, but millions of people all over the world are tuning in to see what they do. Ronnie Allen, McCready, Fats, Earl were not at times "classy" but they were always drawing crowds. More people are going to watch when someone sh@t the nine in and procedes to do the lasso or moonwalk down the side of the table, than two guys in vests not saying a word doing robotic pattern play run outs to an audience that dosnt know if they are aloud to quietly golf clap. The more this game is being cleaned up the more it is sinking.

Pool should be like fencing. You stab the other guy after every shot.
Whoever can walk after the set is winner.

I thought they did have a debate over the grunting back when monica seles started doing it, and from there the grunting between players got louder and more frequent. I thought they addressed that and it went away until sharapova revived it.

and yes, its an absolute shark move.

I just did some reading..... it looks like it has been banned since 2012, but not for current players....

Imagine if pool players grunted on every shot like Sharapova.

1,2 barbecue

Please do not encourage these pool players.. Don't mind Sharapova grunt can always mute and just watch her. If pool players do that, you mean I have to turn off visual and just listen to audio? Never tried listening to pool before

I totally agree. I don't know Mark Wilson but that's about as ignorant of a statement as you can make. They just keep digging our grave.

The issue with all those NBA, NFL players that are tattooed is that half of them would be druggie thugs if they did not have some skill in a game that people pay them to play. In fact, the players that ARE in those organizations are quite often druggie thugs anyway despite all the cash they make LOL. Have you seen some of the interviews they have? Many can't form a clear sentence. Do we want those characters in pool? I don't. We should compare pool players to golfers or tennis players.
