All decorum is gone...
After 4 days at Super Billiards Expo I can attest that all decorum is gone with gambling on billiards. For me , from here on out it's post the money or I don't play.
I had one of the biggest self-proclaimed gamblers there stiff me on a $100 loan I floated him when he got his teeth kicked in. Thanks for the memories Russian Kenny. Karma will find you..it always does.
Locally a player played me some $50 sets. I won 3 out of four. He pays table time , then tells me he will have to owe me the $100. No problem, he's good for it and we play most every week I see him. I should beat him if I just play my game and survive the rolls, so I will do what I have to do to keep him in the hook.
That was 5 weeks ago.. and he hasn't made the weekly tournament which is the only place I see him. What pissed me off the most is he essentially air-barrelled me by not telling me he was short on cash when we started playing. So now I'd like to hunt him down like an animal.
I will let a guy I can trust play for "owesies" once in a while if he is a good credit risk. I just tell them I will owe them too, but still pay off if I lose. Sadly I have to do this to keep up even the minimal action I see.
I wouldn't think of going to the pool hall without $500 in my pocket. It would be like leaving my cues home. To me if you aren't playing for something you might as well be fishing.
Last night, made a few bucks playing after cashing in a tournament. Closed the place at 2am after winning 8-3 in the last $100 set. Not bad for an old guy.
