Now THAT was CUTE! :D By the way, I'm sure the 17K could be sent by interbank transfer. Of course that wouldn't be nearly as clandestine...

I'm just curious about a few things that have been brought up in other posts on this thread.....

Has anyone ever flown with $17K+ in cash? It's not like it's just a small stack of $100's that can be hidden. How do you explain this?

Has anyone ever tried to cash $17K+ worth of money orders or wire transfer? Banks and institutions have to report anything $10K+ to the IRS....

Just curious.

I gotta book for you to read Roscoe, it's called "Bringing Down the House". If you will PM me your address I will send it to you for free.

It talks about how a group of geeks from MIT took Vegas for millions counting cards. How they smuggled money all through airports and stuff all over the country. Not just 17k, we are talking about 250k AT A TIME. Amazing stuff and a very good read.

Exactly anything over 10 Gs you can be stopped for suspicion of drug related issues..Plus the Patriot Act makes it even tougher...You never know someone might roll the cash around in a bag of coke ect ect...I'd specify money orders

Or have them take the risk and let them fly over with it.

Okay seriously, this is getting ridiculous (if it hasn't already). Why on earth would TR (or his cohorts) give back money that's been rolled around in narcotics? They're going to pay LilJohn (or make sure he gets paid) because they think he's good action and they don't want to ruin their names. That's it. That's the end of the discussion. LilJohn isn't going to get whacked or pinched. He's going to get paid. That's it. Boring as it may sound, that's all that's going to happen. Carrying 17K is nothing. In hundred dollar bills, it can easily be rolled up in a rubberband (I can't believe I'm telling you guys how to carry a bankroll) and stuffed in one's pocket.

Yup and it works. In fact, I've stuffed 500 bills in my pockets. Evenso, my point is that it's not a suitcase of money we're talking about.

My understanding is they only have to report cash transactions 10K or more. It's to the Treasury Department. It's been that way ever since I can remember - at least 20 years.

Wire transfers, money orders, checks, etc. don't get reported unless a bank representative is suspicious. Otherwise, there would be a huge pile of reports because 10K transactions are nothing anymore.

The idea is that cash transactions leave no trail, where as other types leave audit trails.

TY & GL

I have sat by for several days and read all the posts on three different threads having to do with the so called Boston Action and how unfairly Lijohn was treated. While this is true Lijohn is no angel. About 2 years ago a friend of mine in Ft Walton Beach took a hot check from Lijohn while side betting with him on action there. It took him about 3 months to get it straight. While the transgretion was not as great, these things happen. I have seen Lijohn in action on only a couple of occassions but have heard many other tales of his exploits. He's definately great for action and on the occassions I saw him it was fun. I hope he gets his money back, but felt obligated to show the other side of the coin.

You're not exactly telling any secrets.......

Lil John has made public that he does whatever he can to make everything right regardless of the situation. He doesn't hide that people make mistakes.....

Thanks for the news flash, Tom Brokaw....

You can't take nail clippers, a box cutter or Zippo lighter on an airplane. Can you imagine what those screeners would do if they saw $17,000 in cash? You would have to be a terrorist or a drug dealer. LOL The drug sniffing dogs would be called and if they reacted to the money then the money is confiscated and you have to explain how you got it.

Don't go through Atlanta there have been several instances where they took large sums of money and made the people hire a lawyer and go to court to prove that it is theirs.

I suppose you can list your profession as a gambler.

And those guys from MIT were shipping money via UPS. The story has been on TV a few times.

Devices detect caches of cash

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- Ah, the smell of money -- there's nothing quite like it. Some people, in fact, may soon be looking for ways to mask the special odor.

Drug traffickers who ship profits abroad in suitcases are not apt to be thrilled with some inventions developed by federal scientists at the Idaho National Laboratory.

One sniffs the air -- it can pick up a stack of bills from about 10 feet away -- for currency's chemical signature. Another beams electrons through packages or luggage to detect trace metals in the green ink.

97 out of 100

Your buddy in Ft Walton is lucky that that he is on of the 97 people that I have owed or left owing in the country that eventually got taken care of. The other 3 that I still owe have been put on hold due to recent Boston happenings and they too will eventually get straightned out. The point is if any real gambler or real pool player doesnt owe somebody then they are not really gambling. If you are a real gambler you are gonna loose and you are gonna get busted as I probably did in Ft. Walton 2 yrs ago, in Tulsa last year, and in Louisville the year before, and every where else they got me. Point being it happens and if you make it right in "MOST" cases its not a big deal. If I had all the 100,s and 200,s and 500,s that people owe me I would have never been in Boston in the first place. I'm like 1pRosco, I said I am not a "SAINT" several times but if anybody says that I wont make an effort to clean up something I did wrong then they are a LIAR......Thanks for the Ft. Walton memories shared with everyone and once again we both have agreed that I eventually made it right........LJ

I won 1000 US $1 bills at a sales contest one time, that stack was about a foot high (say 100 bills to an inch) ! You must have big pockets :D

Dave, who wishes he had the problem of figuring how to carry that much cash ... maybe when the kids are gone ...

Brand new wrapped bills can easily be pocketed. Wearing baggy pants (no jeans), you can easily slip two packs in each front pocket. The fifth can go in the inside pocket of a jacket. I mean, come on, does this take much imagination? 17K isn't even two packs of hundred dollar bills.

I usually take my paycheck in singles but the sucky part is that only amounts to about two lap dances...

Yeah, but what if he won and had to carry $34K? :D
