This may seem like a dumb question: Quiet billiard balls?

I know that there is a such thing as silent air hockey pucks but would it be possible to have the same noise reduction with billiard balls? I used to love having a billiard table set up at my old place but I've moved to another apartment where the neighbors are much more uptight about noise:banghead:

Kill your neighbors, put their bodies in the bathtub covered in lime and topped with baking soda, then get normal pool balls.
 
Quiet pool balls?

We used to have 3 air hockey tables, and tried the quiet pucks because of the noise. They made less noise because they were made of a softer material. They also weren't much fun and no one liked them. I'm sure it would be the same with pool balls-very different from what you're used to-if they even make them, which I don't think they do. Before you kill the neighbors, maybe you could use the opportunity to learn to shoot very softly. If that doesn't work and they complain anyway...well...

Actually, larryt gave you the answer: sound deadening floor covering, which, as he noted, is usually lead impregnated into, or covered with, something. You may have an issue with its thickness making the table too high, depending on how much height adjustment your table's legs allow, if any.

I don't know what the commercial flooring costs. If that's an issue, you can make your own for very little cost. It's not hard work, just kind of a pain getting stuff rounded up, and a little dangerous. That process is unlikely to interest many people, so I won't go into it here. Let me know if you want to know how.

Lime is excellent but whats with the baking soda.
