Sigel up 6-3 on Linda, they are giving some info during the match such as....Linda is 52 years old and was Orphaned during the Korean War...interesting stuff, the whole of Europe and Asia (at least the ones watching) are getting to know the Queen a little bit better 
I am so jealous about the tv coverage. Hopefully sometime in not so distant future, the U.S. will be able to see live or semi-live coverage of these events.
It is getting exciting to be able to look at somewhat timely updates and a current website broadcasting tons of info/pictures...I like the statistics also.

Sigel is a disgrace in this game.
Good to see the refs doing their jobs, apparently Sigel moved the ball with his hand in the previous rack, yet the ref saw nothing.

ref didn't say anything, Mike pretended not to hear it and kept talking and playing. Next shot was the 8 and made it, putting him on the hill at 7-3

If that is the case, the referee shouldn't just be standing at the side of the table, he needs to actually "referee" correctly and move about to check for incidents like the one just mentioned!!!

Mike Sigel defeats Linda Carter 8-3
At the King of the Hill Shootout in Orlando, Florida, there was one referee designated for EACH table. However, there were only 42 players at that event.
At the N.A. 8-Ball Championship, there is a referee designated for several tables, maybe four tables each, but I'm not sure how many. I think there's at least a dozen or more referees here. After the first couple rounds, though, I think that there will be one referee designated for each table.
When Keith was playing Cliff Joyner, Keith thought Cliff made a bad hit on a ball when he shot it in the hole. He complained to Cliff and said that it was a bad hit. Cliff, of course, denied it was a bad hit. Keith called a referee over, but since it was AFTER THE FACT, the call went in Cliff's favor. Personally, I did not see the shot, but some spectators alongside the table had varying opinions. One thing for sure, if there is a hit that can be questionable, it is up to the player to request the referee to watch the hit. It is impossible for a referee to make a call in the objecting player's favor if they did not see he actual hit.
The Gorina cloth is brand new, and some players were experiencing balls "skidding and hopping." Jose Parica stated he suffered a few bad shots due to balls skidding. However, as each day moves forward, the cloth will definitely change a bit. I heard Greg Sullivan of Diamond Billiards state that the NEXT IPT event, they will be installing the same cloth used at this event.
Though I am not an accomplished player, I think that players who tend to use more english experience the "skidding and hopping" of balls more often. The tight pockets also don't allow any wiggle room. You must fire the ball directly in the hole. There truly is no room for error.

I believe that what Greg Sullivant meant is that they will be using the same cloth used at this event for the next event, not brand-new Gorina cloth, at least that's the way I understood it.
I've got some GREAT photos. Unfortunately, I don't know how to download them on this old gray mare laptop of mine, but as soon as I get back to D.C., I will definitely be posting up a picture page. There are so many GREAT "Kodak moments" here.
Joe Blackburn is here providing cue maintenance and repair. The Hustlin' Clothing Brand also had a booth set up with an EXCELLENT array of clothing with their logo on it. Everbody loves that Hustlin' logo. Then there are two IPT tables of IPT stuff available, coffee mugs, DVDs, pins, hats, polo shirts, T-shirts, et cetera.
Also, I think it is really cool that there is a Cyber Cafe set up with high-speed connections for anyone to use, six computers in total. Many of the foreign players are taking advantage of that. I've seen some of them posting on their country's pool websites, providing updates. As soon as I get downstairs, I'm going to post on one of those complimentary computers and provide a few updates on the matches.

It's kind of funny that when I attend pool events now, people call me "JAM," my AzBilliards' name. It is amazing to me how many AzBilliards readers there are, and I have been fortunate to meet so many nice folks on the tournament trail from my association on this website.
I met quite a few legendary pool folks here, Bucktooth, Pots and Pans, Mike Sika the famed poker pLayer, Ronnie Allen, Jack Cooney and his wife, and many California players. Harry Platis from Seattle may be coming this Thursday. Tang Hoa came yesterday to check out the tournament. This place is definitely hopping.

On my home Internet computer, I have Windows XP, and it's a piece of cake. I just plug in the cable, and the wizard downloads the .jpeg files.
My laptop is a Windows 98 operating system, which isn't as easy to download .jpeg files from my digital camera. There isn't a wizard that walks you through it, making it easy. I need a Windows 98 computer, though, because I transcribe in a DOS software for work. At home, I have two computers, the Windows XP and the Windows 98 for transcribing. I can't leave DOS because my co-workers still transcribe in DOS, and working with several softwares is a pain in the neck. So I continue to transcribe in DOS, but do everything else in Windows.
I got a GREAT picture of Earl Strickland with the pretty anchor lady who interviewed him at the KOTH.

I know you don't have time to mess with it now, but when you get home, you should be able to run your transcribing software on your XP machine. All Windows computers have DOS built in. Go to Start->All Programs->Accessories and you should see a shortcut called "Command Prompt". This is DOS. If you click it, you'll have a DOS prompt and you should be able to do anything with it that you can do on your Windows 98 DOS. If you don't have that shortcut, go to Start->Run... and when the box pops up with a blank for what you want to run, type "cmd" (no quotes) and hit enter. A DOS prompt will come up.
Anyway, to echo the sentiments of others, thanks for keeping us updated. It's nice to hear what's going down fresh from someone who's there watching it.
