Thanks for the update JAM. Did you ever think about writing short stories to have published. Johnnyt

Jennie has a BEST SELLER in progress about the cataclysmic game, exciting and almost mythical life of KEITH McCREADY.

I believe I saw on the IPT website that they're selling tickets at the door for this event. If you can afford to go and have the time to go... I can't for the life of me understand, not going. ;)

Sometimes a kind, philanthropist provides me with stand-by tickets to go wherever I want but I am still recovering from Katrina and can't be away too long. I may see about going if only for one day.
Thanks,

For billiard fans like ourselves or fans of any other traveling sport, that is one great friend to have! ;)

Joey you've done such a great job of moving past Katrina and not dwelling on it that it's sometimes easy to forget that you're still going through it. Having met you personally at the DCC, I know what a nice guy you are and I wish you all the best and I sincerely hope you get things back in order soon.

Jennie thank you so much for the updates. It is greatly appreciated.

Take solace in the fact that Keith at least lost to a gentleman in the person of Mr. Breedlove, or at least that is my impression of him.

Jennie and Keith leave Vegas already?

We're still here. We ended up going to the Rio yesterday to see the poker happenings. There's a big poker tournament awarding $10 million to the winner. When we went in this huge room, there were at least 2- to 3,000 people sitting around at various tables, playing all kinds of poker games with various buy-ins. Keith hopped in one which had a $175 buy-in. Allen Hopkins played in a couple, and then we saw Mike Sikas, another friend of theirs who is a strong poker player, playing in a $1,500 buy-in tournament. In the front of the room, there were people hooping and hollering around this one table with two players playing heads-up. It was Phil Helmuth and a poker player from Finland. The winner gets $750,000 and a bracelet, and the loser gets $350,000. Poker fever is in full bloom at the Rio.

This afternoon, Vegas time at 2:00 p.m., Keith has an interview scheduled with CBS in Vegas who is doing a series on the 20th anniversary on The Color of Money. Mike Sigel is supposed to be there too. After observing Mike in person in 2006, I can honestly say that he is the same person that you see on OLN TV. When we left the Venetian yesterday to go to the Rio, he was just getting ready to have dinner with Kevin Trudeau and his lady and Kevin's right-hand man.

For me, coming to Vegas was a tough decision. I have a full-time business back in D.C., and I don't think I can attend all of the IPT events in the future because of the length of time being away from the homefront. It's a topic of discussion that Keith and I will have to figure out. Even though I love pool, I've got to protect my business and cannot give it up. Since I have been here, I have had to turn down several lucrative jobs, and I sure don't want to lose any of my existing clients. The next IPT tournament will be in Reno, then England, and then Chicago. There is a good chance that I will not attend Reno, not that I don't want to. It's now a battle between Keith's prospective career and my existing career. It may be that Keith will have to go alone, and I'll be at home reading all about it. It's going to be a very difficult sacrifice for me, one that I have to deal with. I am unable to put pool ahead of my job, but for Keith, pool is his job. What a dilemma.

About the tournament, it's very well run, and the IPT staff are doing a great job. Some brackets, IMHO, seemed much tougher than others, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. I do wish that the draw was done in the open. Many players now know what to expect for the next IPT event.

I was talking to Austin Murphy, and he's a huge Johnny Archer fan, sweating each one of Johnny's matches. He came so close to advancing too, but he is still very much full of enthusiasm about the next IPT event. Some players are clamoring around Greg Sullivan to buy a Diamond table, cloth, and IPT balls to prepare for future IPT events. After seeing the 4-1/4 pockets, Gorina cloth, I think that if any IPT player wants to do well, this is something they must consider. As Keith is wont to do at every event I have been at, he changed his tip from a hard Moori, what is has always shot with, to a medium Moori, saying the medium Moori handles better on this equipment. His english wasn't taking well with some of the shots he executed. Allen Hopkins uses a Triangle tip. The stick and familiarity with it, the preparation for this event practicing 0n the same equipment, and hours of practice is what it is going to take to advance.

At this juncture, it sure does look as if it's going to be a Filipino final, IMHO. The Filipinos seem to be able to adapt quickly to all equipment, and their level of play surpasses the rest. For the Americans, though, if they want to succeed, they need to prepare by playing on like equipment.

Now that Keith is out of the tournament, I can sit back and enjoy the show. The field is narrowing down, and this next match will be worth $7,000, going from $10,000 winner to $17,000 winner. As you might imagine, there will be some GREAT match-ups. I'll post up some results as soon as I get downstairs.

Timberly, I'm getting ready to send you a PM which will make you smile and feel GREAT.

Hi JAM I was just wondering where and how the top runout players are breaking from, is it down the middle and hit it hard or are there any other unique breaks developing we should know about.

Thanks

You must break from the box, and some players were breaking from the side of the box. However, I overheard MANY players stating that with this equipment, a good breaking strategy is to break right from the middle with a MEDIUM-speed break.

JAM,
As so many have intoned "we love you and your man"....LOL I can only look forward to your continued observations on what remains of this event. If it where in my power I would wave my magic stick and walla you and Keith could do whatever you want whenever you wanted...LOL

It's easy to see why you always have two or three good-looking guys hanging around with you wherever you go.

Wow. There is all kinds of media here. The tables have been reduced, and there's PLENTY of seating available, making it very nice for the spectators.

Right now, Corey Deuel and a movie star named Shannon Elizabeth are performing for the cameras. Ike Runnels brandishing his Italian fedora hat is also a favorite with the media. He does look mighty dapper.

I'm going to go over to the charts and see what's happening. The second match for today just started minutes ago. James Walden lost his first match, 8 to 3. John Schmidt also lost his first match.

I'll be right back.

Shannon Elizabeth is in town for the poker tournament. She played in the World Series last year.

I wonder if she is a pool fan or KT just hired her for a personal appearance. Hopefully the former.

Heard through the grapevine that Ginky was upset because when he was playing Johnny Archer, he went for a bathroom break and was one minute late. There is 5 minutes allowed for a bathroom break. Johnny called a foul and was awarded one game.

Here's some results:

Dee Adkins over Varner, 8 to 7.
Rico Diks over James Walden, 8 to 3.
Raj over Abood, 8 to 5.
Reyes over Lnotano (sp), 8 to 5.
Lining over Sandor Tot, 8 to 6.
Jimmy Wetch over John Schmit, 8 to 2.
Rafl Souquet over Beauful, 8 to 1.
Putnam over Younger, 8 to 7.
Hann over Ronnie O'Sullivan, 8 to 4.
Corey over Boyle, 8 to 5.
Fu over Orcollo, 8 to 7.
Peach over Archer, 8 to 5.
Hennessee from Tennessee over Juva, 8 to 4.
Marchus Chamat voer Ronnie Alcano. 8 to 2.
Gabe Owen over Ellerby, 8 top 4.

There are only 5 players in each group today, as opposed to the six yesterday. Some players are playing their first match at 12:30.

More later.

O'Sullivan vs. Django on table 1... JAM, if you get a chance to post any intra-match scores for this one, I'll send Keith more positive vibes for his next IPT appearance (higher quality vibes this time, I promise).

JAM

Seems like a lot of players are not being shy to call fouls for actions that are not under the norm of cue ball/object ball related. Linda also related some other instances.

ScottR and I will take that as a compliment :D
