Thorpe suspended for 2 years???

Mario He tested positive for a banned substance a couple of years ago and got 3 months.
They are two totally different scenarios. Mario took a legal prescription medicine, that was prescribed by his doctor, for a lifelong serious medical condition, and the prescription happened to have a banned ingredient in it that Mario wasn't aware of and didn't have any reason to suspect would be in there. Billy took an illegal drug (it was federally illegal regardless of what state he took it in and federal law trumps state law) for recreational purposes that he knew was on the banned list and he took it anyway in complete and intentional disregard of the rule.

We can argue whether the rule is good or bad all day long but what can't be argued is that the two cases are completely opposite in every way possible and should therefore obviously be handled very differently. See the link below for additional details on Mario's case.

Just saw Earl posted this. For weed?? Ridiculous!!! FUCK THE WPBA!!!

(Sorry if this is a duplicate thread, I searched and didn’t see any others on this, my search abilities may be as good as my pool game…)

From what I have seen, 80% of pool players would need to be banned for weed use, probably whole leagues would be shut down if they started doing testing LOL

I thought the stuff was legal in many places now anyway,

This is not true.
I sorta stand corrected.

A new threshold for a positive test will also be put in place, raising the allowed amount of THC from 35 nanograms to 150.

Also looks like they’re not going directly to suspensions.

Honestly it should be fully permitted. But everything’s a negotiation.

I went ahead and completed that sentence for you ;)

Where is the official announcement of the suspension? What was the substance detected?

It’s why they no longer test for marijuana in the NFL or NBA.
Aside from the fact that it is legal in 20 states +DC (recreationally) and medically legal in 37 states + DC.

We are passing through the period of time that *.gov has to give up on a bad idea it has been lording over its people for 70 years.

I looked this up. He got 4 months for using a substance (hydrochlorothiazide) that can be used to help prevent the detection of something else. It's a diuretic that makes you piss a lot

No dog in the this fight. Just thought some might like some comparitive details
Hydrochlorothiazide is the most commonly prescribed antihypertensive in the USA.

I'm not sure where you read that it is used to help fight detection of pot or any other type of drug, but there has to be millions of people that take Hydro every day including Truck Drivers or even Dr's as it is used for a very common reason, and that is to help fight high blood pressure! But I am no Dr, but I do take it daily to fight high blood pressure along with another water pill! And because of the state I live in I also have to take a monthly piss test due to other controlled meds I take, and if there was a reason to suspect that I took the above so I could pass it would be brought to my attention and not given the meds I get, so I can't go along with your argument on the issue of using the hydro to pass a piss test. Now like others I have no dog in this fight, but something else had to come up or the whole system is fubared!

WPA uses the WADA World Anti Doping Agency rules which are very very extensive.

Many medications, supplements and of course all recreational drugs are forbidden.

I didn't... ...and didn't post that it did. However if you google it's multiple uses. You'll find information that states it does make an individual urinate more often and subsequently can be used to help flush a person's system clean.

Simply repeated information.

You are correct....diuretics are on the WADA list for that reason.

yes that is true, for a heart attack survivor such as myself or anyone with high blood pressure the goal is to piss of as much water as possible and not retain it! and any worthwhile drug testing facility would inquire and know this, so I still don't but it unless they have a hard on for the dude and figure he wouldn't fight it, it's not like he's a multimillion dollar a year big household name that is going to draw interest outside of the group here.
