Thoughts on black felt for this table

To the OP, do you have any problems with having hard wood in your pool room? I'd think it's either uncomfortable to walk on for hours, or is noisy when you have a group over.
 
If you are a serious pool player you should never get cloth in signal colors like: Bright yellow, bright red, orange etc. Also do not get any dark color cloths. If I had to choose I'd prefer even something like a ghastly orange color over black for playability. The dark colors will actually make it difficult to see the balls, the signal colors will just sort of wear your eyes out.

If you play pool only now and then and want a cool color to match the drapes etc, then by all means, get any color you like.
 
Thanks for all of the help. Although I think that looks pretty damn good in the photoshop (thanks Floppage), I wouldn't want to sacrifice playability for looks. I'll debate between green and blue for a while now myself.

I have never had any issues with it. I play for long periods of time and have never been uncomfortable. I can't really speak to the noise factor as I'm always the one playing, but I have never heard any complains from anyone else. That being said I recently broke up with my gf who I lived with... maybe the foot noise was the last straw :eek:
 
Every little thing will be visible with black cloth. Lint, hairs, chalk marks, etc... keep it blue.
 
I have played on tables with black cloth and really hated them, the particular lighting
situation in the room made it so you could hardly see the side pockets from a certain angle. they have since change to a normal color and it's aworld of difference. Personally my preferenmce is tournament blue.

Heck, it's 10 times better than concrete of ceramic tile. Hard wood has a little give. Last house had tile in kitchen, new house has 3/4 inch oak. Big difference on the legs, washing dishes, cooking, cleaning the kitchen, well, so the wife has told me ;)
 
I have to confess that I've never played on black or spruce cloth.
I've had the opportunity, I just didn't want to hit a ball under those conditions.

And I don't want to play on a hard floor floor of any material....
....I find I have to change my stance...like a golfer in the rain does.

I played in a tournament in a ballroom once....floor was too slippery....
...I bought a Coke ( I don't drink pop) and spilled some on the floor near my chair....
...rubbed my shoes in it so I could make a solid stance.
By the second round, everybody else was doing it

No way. You will be better off with dark green. I have a table made out of natural maple. I have dark green felt with black pockets and the combination goes very well.
 
another benefit of black cloth......you can have the "Raiders" logo in the center ! :thumbup:

You see, this is why we can't take you anywhere nice!

A friend of mine has black cloth, and I hate it. I find it hard to find the pockets with my peripheral vision, or the edge of the object ball when it's on the rail.

Maybe the camel colour is worth a thought.
I've played on it many times and it's not only looking pretty, it's also friendly to the eyes.
It may fit your table colour perfect!!
