Threads I Hate The Most

1. Misleading/Incomplete Titles

Please, don't let us wait until we click on the thread to find out you have no worthy opinion. Let everyone know from the main-page from now on so we don't waste our time!

2. NPR

It's amazing how people can relate ANYTHING to pool. Seriously, we are days away from seeing a thread about septic tanks and 9ball. Amazingly, I searched for "septic tank" and got 6 hits. Before you submit, ask yourself, is this what I would discuss with the poolroom's best player?

3. Revisited Topics

Ugh. There are now 158 THREADS with "OB-1" in the title. Unless your thread is about OB-1 versus Godzilla (which I think has yet to be discussed), perhaps you might want to consider reviewing previous posts before starting an entirely new thread about your new love.

4. Player Obsessions

I never thought AZB would become a fan site. From my time on rsb to the Chalk Board and now azb, I always believed we were all pool players. Boy was I wrong. I thought forums would be great places to gain information. People like Wei have devoted an incredible amount of their time to provide us with amazing tools to use and youtube only enhances that experience yet every day there will undoubtedly be a new thread about one of ten players and how someone saw them on tv. I really don't care if Johnny Archer wears Fruit of the Looms. I really really really don't care.

5. Politics

Usually 95% of the people involved in these threads have no financial interest in them whatsoever yet they're always willing to contribute their two cents.

I really do enjoy questions about rules and unusual shot scenarios and amazingly, many of the best contributors of late are relatively new members. I hope members like Klockdoc, uwate, azbluemach1 and a plethora of others continue to contribute to play-related threads. I may not always agree with what you have to say but I'm very glad we're actually talking about pool.

Sigh. I'm done venting.

I totally agree with this one. If the title is complete, we could at least easily avoid the other 4 types of threads. (or any other threads we wish to avoid.)

On the title front, add in the "(some event going on) RIGHT NOW!!!" (or "today", etc etc) titles.

hey Jude........

right on the mark. Unfortunately, much of the content on AZ recently is either rehashed garbadge or new, mindless garbadge. I couldnt agree more, particularly about rereading content that has been beaten to death so many times in the past.

Please, before pressing the submitt button, please take an additional moment to reconsider your post. Jude gives great advice about utilizing the search button before posting. Its about consideration, not seeing your own name appear on the computer screen

Thanks Jude. This is a great thread.

The only thing I can add is that I don't like posters who put 50 posts in the same thread that say the same thing. The poster will give their opinion once. Then later in the thread, especially if someone disagrees with them, they state the same opinion over and over throughout the thread saying exactly the same thing.

Once someone gives an opinion, please know that we understand that side of the discussion without having to read it 50 more times throughout the thread.

Mike

Actually, you just reminded me. I do like seeing tournament updates. I usually have friends at every big event and it's nice to get more than just a box-score in a tournament chart. A lot of people have devoted a good chunk of time to tournament reporting which I do appreciate.

And besides, I hear the republicans have a secret plan to mark the location of Johnny Archer's septic tank with a couple of strategically buried OB-1 shafts...

is it really that big a deal

is it that big a deal that someone wants to ask a question or opinion?? maybe a catchy title to get attention?? i know it can be irritating at times but it seems that lately, evryone is just finding stuff to ***** about. i mean this is a free to speak your mind forum isn't it?? the post for the most part are usually in the right place as far as main forum or for sale. if it takes that much time from your schedule to click on a post and find out it is not what you thought it was, maybe you shouldn't be spending that time on this forum period. wait til ya got a few extra minutes. i am not trying to start anything as everyone is entitled to their opinion but it just kinda caught me the wrong way. no offense meant to anyone. yall have a nice day:)

We really need a therapy forum. It can be called "couch talk" where you actually CAN be free to speak your mind.

IMO, I think the content of this forum has taken a nosedive in quality. The main forum has turned into 85% bull$hit, but 15% of it is still worthwhile reading. That is why I keep coming back here every day. There are people here that want to learn more about the game and engage in friendly conversation. You also have people that are here just be idiots, to argue, and to cause trouble. I've filtered out most of the 12 year olds, the woofers, the nutcases, and the jack-asses. Hopefully the mods will realize who these people are and get rid of them too.

As far as instructional threads - I think there is something to be learned in every scenario. Lately I have seen those thereads turn into "My way is better than your way" or "I can prove you wrong" and I'd rather just stay out of that altogether. It's non-productive. If anybody wants my advice or input, they can PM me, e-mail me, subscribe to my blog, call me on the phone, read teh straight pool section, but as far as joining in on the circus that it has turned into in the main forum... count me out. It's not worth the hassle. I'm seriously thinking about just submitting articles to Mike on a monthly basis and leaving it at that.

 Not sure I understand this bit. Are you suggesting that the Non Pool Related forum should not contain threads that are Non Pool Related? In other words that there should be no NPR section at all?

Or are you suggesting that posters should be more careful to ensure that all Non Pool Related subjects should be posted only in the NPR section?

 Can't stand politics in general and USA politics in particular my but can't see what having a "financial interest in politics" has to do with anyone's right to express their opinion. In fact I'm not even sure what you mean by someone having or not having "a financial interest in politics"?

Apart from those two things agree 100%, especially the rehashed oft repeated subjects:)

Whenever people with a common interest gather there will be off topic banter and discussion. When done in moderation and a sense of fun it adds to the forum experience.

Now I know what to do with those old shafts that got too thin, sell them on Ebay for divining rods..:)

You mean there is something better out there than my old Meucci "Flex-O-Matics"..

Thank you Jude for a great thread and bringing these points up

NPR is referring to NPR material in the pool forum. I don't care what happens in the actual NPR section.

"Politics" is a reference to issues that happen in poolworld. Please do a search for "IPT" if you need further clarification.

i agree, additionally people in the sales forum, knocking someones asking price of a cue that isnt involved in the transaction is a low class move too, if someone wants $5000 for a $300 cue so be it, dont call them an idiot etc.

On the other forum all they talk about is squirt/deflection everyday for a year, man those guy really need to give it a rest, i only go there once a month, Az isnt that bad.

I come here and yes I do like to make jokes, and lighten things up aa bit, but I also like to contribute quality information I have learned about pool since 85 and share my experiences, or ask about the spot shot the other day-those were good threads I started. And Jay and me's bank pool game is something I like to bring up-just to give the fans out there something to sweat. ;)

I hope that I am considered a assett to this board by most people, i do my best to make az a good useful board, I do however think there should be a C player and lower forum to help the begginners with basic questions they have.

FYI.....I'm a master plumber....I will field any questions about septic tanks by PM.:)

and if you figure out the pun in my post you probably own a septic system! :D

as for the thread....dead on, I just think most folks say the hell with "searching" anything and just start a new "old" thread. It can get tiring, but this is still the place I check every day, and usually find some good, funny, interesting stuff...

and for the record....I think most of the standing high run records etc. were done with "old school" equipment.

Gerry < uses old school stuff!

Attention Starved

The absolute worst threads are the "I'm done on AZ and I'm never coming back" threads.
