Threads I Hate The Most

If a thread doesn't interest you, or sounds like it wouldn't interest you then simply DO NOT click on that thread. There are dozens of threads each day about shaft deflection, squirt, tip material, break speed, etc.. that do not interest me in the least therefore I simply don't read them. I do not click on those threads I care nothing about and belittle the poster and voice how little I care about their topics. The fact that someone starts a thread that you don't like doesn't mean that it is necessarily bad for the forum or that others won't enjoy its content. You seem to deem it necessary to cry "NPR, NPR" everytime someone puts up a thread that you don't like even though it generates a lot of entertainment to most of the other regular posters.

How do you know it generates a lot of entertainment to most of the other regular posters?

Needn't worry Bazooka, I haven't taken offense to anything anyone has said. I am obnoxiously condescending but that's only because I've seen this forum turn into a swamp of incoherent rhetoric about trivial issues vaguely related to actually making a ball and I really miss what it used to be and dream of what it could be.

For the most part, those that agree with me are the same people who come here to discuss pool. Those that have taken a moment to insult me are usually the very people I'm complaining about. I hope they keep 'em coming. This is like Googan roll-call.

can't find my webster......what's a googan??

is it really an integrated bear:confused:

My least favorite Main Forum thread topic: "This is my ***th post!". This always results in my *******th expletive.

Rep. do you always use low left english on a self-righteous person? What kinda tip should I use?

I find it disturbing that some of you have decided to personalize this thread by attacking the messenger and disregarding the op's message.

The idea that the overall quality of the content on this board has diminished recently isnt subjective. If you voice your dislike of a poster, it still wont invalidate this particular issue.

Furthermore, after being reminded here on this thread, i too agree that there is way too much thread hijacking and the injection of humor which often times proves to be inappropriate. I cant count how many times that in the middle of serious discussion/debate, a poster will poke fun or add a joke or picture and by doing so, ruin the thread. The poster has not only NOT CONTRIBUTED anything useful, they have done worse by derailing the thread. If i want jokes, ill read the comics.

because of their expressed sentiments within the thread about the topic. How else could you know?

I think this is a googan but I'm not sure... it sure is happy though, or mad

BS....that's a PANDA on the way to breeding. It's my understanding there's only a 17 minute window during leap years.

On a serious note:

A number of members who contributed + content no longer post

Over all the owner and mods do a good job of monitoring content

Many of us enjoy humor and diversification

We all don't visit here for the same reason

Once we determine a thread doesn't appeal to us it's not hard to move on

hit em straight!!!

Pooch Cafe' is the best.

I get tired of Dale Perry & Meucci bashing. Everything that can be said has
been said.
BTW, the political threads on NPF are pretty much gone as I predicted.
All the libs cut & run.

Exactly. You really don't know. I mean, I don't know either. People that are entertained respond. People that aren't, don't.

I mean, a perfect example is cuetable (the creator of cuetable.com). When there's a thread he likes, he's responding all the time and when he sees nothing he likes, he disappears. He doesn't tell people he doesn't like a thread. He just doesn't post. Some people here may find that healthy. I don't. I think it kinda sucks.

Now, I know this thread is contrary to what I'm arguing but it's something that really needs to be addressed.

OK, to all of the CONTROL FREAKS, you don't have to click on every thread. I agree NPR should be in NPR, that's why it's there. Do you like everything you see on TV? We have freedom of speech in the USA. That's a good thing BTW.

I can make more than 3 balls in a row and I don't know how that has any bearing on me clicking on each of these threads. I would kind of like to know the mullet to power ratio but I haven't read that one yet. I put my cursor over the "discussed already thread" and the fastest break threads but didn't read all of them. I did not click on the paypal, balance point, pocket size, or sidespin threads. So, in review, I don't particularly care for any of these threads, but that doesn't make them bad threads. It also wasn't a source of stress for me to overlook these threads and continue to others. I guess I just don't get all the animosity that is felt by some towards some of the other content on here. I gave Walt, Bernie, and Grady a little grief over starting so many threads about the same thing, but that doesn't mean that their threads weren't entertaining and comical. I think some of the people on here should lighten up a bit and maybe their pool games might improve as well as their outlooks on life.

I don't understand it either Shane, but it sounded good and made me feel like I knew what I was talking about. :D

It's RIDICULOUS. Sigh.

Look, I'm not going anywhere today. If you don't like me, feel free to hit the ignore button but I'm not going to get into some flaming war with you which you seem to be itching for. I'm here to discuss pool, that's all I want. Every day I look at the list of threads and it gets sillier and sillier every day. If you can't recognize that, you're not paying attention or you don't care.

Hey Jude,
I'm not jumping on you about your post but I would like to point out a few things.

First you bring up some really good points. It would be nice if all of the AZ posters including myself, worked a little more diligently and posted more on topic posts for this forum.

However, you should keep in mind that your skill level is probably a lot higher than most of the AZ members and their goals aren't your goals. Some come here just to pass a good time and seldom take part in serious discussions about pool (and probably never will).

It would be nice to have a sub Forum dedicated only to discussing instruction, patterns, techniques, etc. That way serious players like yourself could stay on topic and have what you come here for. I would probably participate more in such a sub forum and so would our friend Wei Chao, the inventer of the www.cuetable.com

I think you made a mistake about one of the threads that you listed today that were not up to YOUR standards and that was the one about Squirt & Swerve. While you may not be interested in such discussion there are MANY who are and personally I think it was an excellent thread and will help to make one a more rounded player if you fully understand what is taking place, why it is taking place and how to deal with each phenomena.
But that's what this forum is all about. Everyone can make a choice about who or what they choose to read.

I wouldn't object to a sub forum where only serious discussions about pool were allowed. I would enjoy it immensely. But there are other entertaining people who make the forum a well rounded community who do not take pool nearly as seriously as you or I.

While I think the name Googan is kind of funny, it might apply to YOU as much as it applies to any of the rest of us. After all, who in their right mind would want to get on this forum and read and post away until there is nothing left to say except a Googan? :D :p :D

I've been working on my new Bender shaft creating an entirely different taper and I am feeling like I will be playing better pool with each passing day. I can tell that with each tenth of millimeter of removal of wood, I am getting closer to the type of equipment that I need to play my best pool.

Anyway, I hope you keep on posting. Maybe you should send Mike a personal note requesting a separate sub forum for SERIOUS POOL DISCUSSION ONLY. It might be a lonely and small room but I would try to do my part to be a valuable contributor to it.
