I've got an ivory-jointed ebony Chudy merry widow and man does it hit great! I've also owned a SS jointed Chudy and it hit a ton, too. I'll bet the combo of ebony and SS joint makes for a great hitting cue.

I will find out Sunday. I hit a couple of balls unchalked at Chudy's shop. The steel joint is thick, so it is not an SS sleeve on a flat faced wood to wood joint, the entire hitting surface is SS. It also has a Kamui black hard tip, so it has a pretty good "clank" to it (which I like). I have a teammate who has a Chudy with the same joint and says it is the best Chudy he has ever hit. I will let you know.
 
Chudy-

This cue has a very firm hit with the Flat Faced steel joint and hard tip. Also, the shafts have a stiff taper, so this cue is a very hard hitter which I like a lot.

They are all great, none better than the other. Wood wise I have a weakness for curly Purple Heart.
