These guys are just remarkable, sjm (as you know).
Here's that game inning by inning:
- Appleton commits a breaking foul and Immonen chooses to have him re-beak. [(-2) - 0]
- Immonen runs 76 then jaws the 11-ball. [(-2) - 76]
- Appleton runs 93 then misses a nearly straight-in 14-ball just above the foot rail. [91 - 76]
- Immonen runs 21 then misses a long, fairly slow roller to the head end. He motions that it rolled off. [91 - 97]
- Appleton runs 109 and out. [200 - 97]
Appleton's 3 innings: (-2) + 93 + 109 = 200.
And Appleton's only miss was that easy 14 ball that he missed when he was sharked.
Jerry Tarantola was moving around suddenly to do something with a camera on the
Schmidt Hatch match. He came over and apologized to Darren during the match. He was wearing a red shirt and a bright green hat and suddenly jumped up in Darren's peripheral vision.
By the way, Mika's shot did roll off a little. He set it up again after the match and the same shot rolled off twice. Then he just shot the cue ball down there at the same speed and it rolled off. At the level at which these guys are playing every inning is important.
Schmidt had some fair innings against Hatch, too. 80 or so and then safe to the bottom of the rack. next inning another 80 plus to a miss. Next inning he got all the way to 199 then took a backscratch because there were no shots and Hatch had left the table on a scratch.
I'm looking forward to more good play today.
