I will never play pool again. I have served the dark lord enough and I now have my reward.

Ever time I hear Fargo rating, i think of this aweful film, and town that share same name. “FARGO”.

I got my Arizona Rating Card years ago from Jazz at Metro Sports Bar, had no expiration date. So I am good.🤯

What did they rate you?

Recreational player, pool is for fun. That is why I do not, never did play in pricy tournments. $7.00-$10.00 is my ceiling.💀

gambling if not my thing, if I playing someone who I know I will beat,it’s no gamble, it’s stealing. Or visa versa.🤮

College of Ozarks is my favorite charity, not local pool room, or players.😎

I just wondered what your rating in Arizona is/was. The 4-10 system I think is what they had back in the 90’s. Golden 8 Ball days, Tommy’s in Mesa etc. that era. Not talking about gambling.

Card is some place from 2005, actually they changed it to 4 to 10 MINUS OR WAS IT PLUS 2, for True Pro Players.

Yea that’s correct the minus 1 or 2 maybe 3 for guys like Earl etc.

That’s how I remember it

Is that right?
You’re right. All of the rooms go by Fargo now, which is interesting. Some genius decided that an AZ 8 was like a 593 Fargo (don’t quote me on that, just an example). So they’re old “8 and under” tournament is now a “593 and under”. Couldn’t they have just rounded up or down? That old system was so subjective and needed to go.

Good luck getting Coocoo to actually answer your question…

What I liked about the “old system” was everyone wore their number on their forehead, meaning they advertised their speed. I didn’t have a number as I lived in Vegas(not that I’d have had one if I lived in Phoenix).

So every 6-8 weeks I’d drive down from Vegas mop up all the 7-8’s and low 9’s and leave town. It wasn’t gambling. I never made a hard game-unless I wanted to step up and play a “almost 10” player back in 92-93 there was almost 2 year period I went down and worst I ever did was cover my expenses.

The only reason I stopped going was I got into telemarketing and it paid much better. I did enjoy those Az trips, made a few friends there and was always fun. I always respected those guys as a whole-they gambled. Usually $50-$100 pool. Wasn’t big but playing 3-4-5 guys a day added up fast.

I did go to one Mexican pool room, got into $500 action. Won $1200 that night(started at $200). Great guys, had fun. They just loved to gamble. Sadly I couldn’t ever find it again. Believe me I tried. That was a honey hole. I might have been the only “white boy” in there in years. I liked them, they liked me. Great action and was a fun night-even if I lost it was still fun, great guys. Possibly the easiest action I ever had for any sizable $.

The 4-10 system treated me real good

The chronicles continue,

Fatboy 😀

I happened upon a Mexican bar in Riverside, CA and there was a challenge table where they were playing for beers and money.

Usually the Mexican maids clean house, but I cleaned house in here.

They loved playing and I was the only Gringo in the place.

I love those spots.

When I was 5 years old we lived in Mexico for almost 6 months. I loved it. Remember it well somehow.

I’ve played at lots of rooms in Mexico and always had a fun time. A few times I won small $ and gave it back or spent it all on beers for the whole rail etc. many many times I just went and had fun. I lost a few times too-just small $. Never had a bad experience in a Mexican pool room ever.
