so much depends on the light and the angle. I usually use no flash in good light with a portrait setting on my nikon d7000

I use a $349 Sony DSC-H20 set to auto.

Outdoor lighting is the best. Make sure the angle is positioned so that you do not get intense reflections. I spent $6 at Walmart for the material for my background. And those cool green thingies I got from Amazon.

Here are the results:

Not one image has been altered in way. Images have been uploaded from the memory stick to my Photobucket account. I upload with a max size of 800 x 600.

Good luck in your search,
Chris

I completely agree with CMD...Lighting and Angle is key.
I use an idiot proof point & shoot camera all the time and it's a 4yrs old Canon Ixus (probablu worth $150 now if i'm lucky..maybe less), i just switch to Macro mode whenever i do closeup shots and pics usually turns out right with good lighting. I never ever use flash for my pictures. Can't say my pictures are superb but they show the cue for what it is.

Here are some pics:

I suck at pics, lol, I'm not sure if you know about photobucket.com. It's a free online program that makes great adjustments to your photo's and makes them real easy to post on here.

Send me that Showman...i promise to get a photographer in to shoot it! ;)

Easiest way to take good pictures without getting all fancy with light setups, is just get a nice piece of plain fabric or a towel as your back drop, and take the cue outside! Any camera will suffice, even some higher end phone cameras will perform great in sunlight. If you want closeup shots, look on your camera's controls for a little flower, that's the macro function. It lets you focus really close up.
