Tips for this shot.

Just for sh*ts and grins, I took all fifteen balls out of the pockets and went to the end of the table with them and sett this shot up. !0 attempts from the side of the table in the OP, and 5 from the other side.

Keep in mind that I had just walked into my pool room from my reclining chair and shot the balls stone cold.

From the 10 shots from the OP's side of the table, I rattled and missed my first two shots. Then I made the next 8 shots. From the other side of the table, I missed one of the 5 attempts (somewhere in the middle of the string).

IMHO, for me at least, I find this to be acceptable accuracy for this shot. Like every other player out there, there is always that one shot that we do not like coming to the table and facing. This one is not that shot for me.

FWIW, I used center ball for all 15 attempts.

According to my cyphering, if you are warmed up and playing you will make this shot a dozen times out of a baker's dozen times. Goodernuff! Of course since you didn't shoot until the second miss occurred we don't know if you miss it one time out of thirteen, one time out of thirty, or one time out of three hundred!

My bet is on you when the money gets right!

ok so i tried this as a few have said with a bit of inside english and wow its much more makeable now

You should NEVER EVER rely on tip position on CB to pocket an OB. A bad habit that will definitely keep you from reaching the upper levels of this sport. I've worked with many players and this is one of the hardest habits to break! Tip position on CB should be used for position play! I know there are exceptions .. touch of outside to negate CIT, super spin shot to roll ball down a long rail while only moving the CB a couple of inches, but even this shot is for position, and the shot where you can't see enough of the ball to cut it so you have to 'throw' it BUT for 99.9% of all shots you should never rely on tip position to make OB, only use it for position.

What happens if you learn to make this shot 100 times in a row using a TOI, and you're presented with this shot in a big game but in order to get position on the next shot you need to draw the CB or you need to follow up the rail and you don't want inside spin? IF you get in the habit of using TOI for this shot what tip positions will you need for all the other thousands of shots you'll face. I've played many. many good shortstops and find that most of them have this same habit, and they'll never get to the next level

No, you need to shoot it until you don't miss it. Thousands of times.

I'll help a little, but only a little because NOTHING replaces table time:

- forget the rail is there, since you're an inch or two off anyway.

- smooth, even, level stroke.

- NO english (for now)

Forget the rail is there is a good one. I'll add onto that:

Pull the OB off towards the spot almost. Shoot a bunch from there... move it toward the rail..... shoot more... keep moving it closer to the rail.

I did this and got it to where I'm 1/4" to 1/2" off the rail and drilling them at a fast pace.

I have been doing my drills with center ball for a few months and now am drilling all those shots with each type of spin and hoping I will be pocketing confidently with all spins in a few months consistently.
