Guy is trying to sell me a used 8 inch predator extension…. He only does PayPal family & friends … I said nah … Idon’t do family & friends …. He called me and I wondered how he got my number … I bought an extension about 8 months ago and never received it thru Paypal & friends and couldn’t get my money back … Does anyone know of this guy Cueball13 ???

Other than him calling you I wouldn’t have seen prior red flags to that. Most folks do friends and family unless it’s a big business. Looks like a good decision.

If you make a payment with friends and family to someone other then friends and family, I really don't feel sorry for you if you lose your money. You knew what the risk was going in.

What I said might be harsh, but it's the truth. It should be a giant red flag to everyone.

Its almost like the phishing phone calls I've been getting lately that say my electric is going to be shut off, and want me to make a payment.

A guy offered a sale on his terms.

You said no thank you.

That should have been the end of it. Why are you here dragging his name through the mud when it was someone else on a prior deal who was a problem.

Or was it the same guy or just once....honestly I can't tell if it was 8 months ago or yesterday or both.

And it took me 2 minutes to find your phone number...you posted it here 3 months ago.

Shorty, Howdy;

Think about what you told us.
He called you 8 months after you ordered and paid for the same thing he's trying to sell to you.
Does the one he's trying to sell same as the one you ordered? Any bells going off yet?

I’m thinking it’s two separate transactions and he doesn’t want to get burned again. Hence asking if anyone knows the guy.

Sorry, but anyone that demands you pay with friends and family is it all out crook! It's a simple matter of adding the PayPal fee to the total. The buyer will always assume the costs.

Rimfire, Howdy;

The main point is it was UNsolicited to begin with... the unknow guy called him first.

He posted a "Want to Buy" here...not unsolicited. And he posted his phone number a few months ago in an open thread.

If people would stop being nits to save a couple bucks they would not get burnt on E bay or the worst of the worst Craig's list.
Buy from established on line retailers.

Agreed.

I'll gladly pay 10%+ more to use a seller that I know is honest and ships quickly.

F&F is only like 3%.

That said:
buyers are always trying to squeeze a couple more dollars their way in negotiations.
Sellers are trying to minimize the reduction of item's price and it is real easy for seller to put it on 'you can do f&f and save 3%.

3% fee is not a fee to transfer the money. There are many ways to move money for no fees...Paypal Friends & Family, Zelle, etc.

The Paypal fees charged for regular "Goods and Services" payment basically amount to someone buying insurance to protect the buyer. Sellers are wary of this because it opens them up to buyer fraud. Seller sends a cue, buyer claims an empty box showed up, Paypal refunds the buyer and goes after the seller for the money. It is too often used by scammers to steal stuff and even the most honest of sellers can get burned.

There is no simple solution.
