titlelist points ??

You do if a guy like you built it. That was the reason for my original remark in post no. 2. I would prefer a newly built butt from a competent cuemaker over an old house cue conversion.
If you come across a Titleist 'bushka be sure to contact me seein' how its just a house cue conversion. Wouldn't want you seen with junk like that. ;)

I do have one. Balabushka when he cut and spliced handles he probably rejected quite a few blanks when he found stuff like seen in that picture.

Toby Sweet told me he would go to his shop and Balabushka had a bin of rejected shaft wood and stuff. He was pickey it would seem.

He also I think after finding sources for better blanks, Spain, Szamboti, maybe Palmer, i doubt did many house cue conversions anymore. Those represent his earliest cues.

It would be dishonest to say a cue built from a mass produced house cue is the quality of a precision built cue by a good cue maker who built every part.

As explained by Mr. Webb, it can be difficult and probably not really worth the time, except for the demand for such cues, explaining the high price.

Then why do they play so good? I've never hit one that didn't play great. Played with a lot of made from scratch customs that played like absolute crap.

Your thoughts are spot on. It truly is amazing what I've seen over the years on old and new. I share with the individual customers because they have a right to know.
But in the end, it has all made me a more knowledged Cue maker.

A term like " played great" is so subjective.
Balabushka had some unique ways such as how he attached the handle to the nose piece, his buzz ring maybe other things or secrets.

But today with coring, various joint screws, CF shafts and so on, cue building is generations away from Balabushkas day.

Best playing cue I remember as my favorite playing cue was a Martin. Big screw, ivory joint, all Birdseye. It changed my perception of the feel of a cue.

I think a change took place in general some time back. The phenolic type non-steel joint became very common and desired. Meucci, SW, and McDermott for example.
What's best, who knows. Unless the cue feels like a club or sounds like a tuning fork, it is personal and subjective.
