Hi Jaden, beautiful daughter! Following you and icon, my avatar shows the most beautiful girl in the world to me...my brand new 5 month old daughter. :D Yup, I also understand the pride of new fatherhood. (New father beaming here as well)

BTW, i've been posting here the past two months, but never initially introduced myself. My first name is joseph. (If you're reading this DM, this is honestly my real first name :) )

You have a beautiful daughter as well!

ME too!

Hi. I'm Mike, and I'm an alcoholic.

Hi everyone,
My name is Tommy and I too am an alcoholic. I only drink about once every other week now, but due to the fact that over the past ten years I use to drink every night. I now black out every time I drink. I also hook up almost every time though , so its not that bad I guess. I've had the pleasure of drinking with Mike a few times. I'm not sure I would classify him as an alcoholic. Maybe he just acts a little more sane than the rest of us. As for my pool ability, I suck. I have gone out and gotten drunk with most of the best players in the world though. I also went golf hustling with some of the best. Anyway, I moved out of Athens after going to school there for 10 years. No, I'm not a doctor, I work at my dads car dealership. So if anyone needs a new car let me know.

I'd just like to invite our drinking friends to our weekly Alcoholics Unanimous meeting. We get together, talk about our problems and tap a keg...

Detour - Is that your case in the avatar, Fred? Justis, right? I would like to
see more of it if you could. Looks real nice ..

Hello everybody.

I am mostly a lurker, but occasionally post.

A little about myself:

I play pool in two leagues, but I do not take it too seriously. It is more of an excuse to socialize with my friends. I like to buy cues, but would not consider myself a collector. I currently have 15 cues, some custom, some production, nothing really rare or high $.

I am planning on attending the super billiards expo at Valley Forge in 2006 and meeting some of the AZB posters there.

Other interests besides pool:

Fishing (Fly fishing for trout in the beautiful state of Pennsylvania. Catch and release)

Hunting (Don't care if I shoot anything. Just like being in the outdoors)

Golf (A bad round of golf beats the crap out of a good day at work)

Work (Not so much an interest, but a necessary evil)

Regards to all,

Scott

Hey guys and gals. Just thought I would take a moment to invite you to introduce yourselves to everyone and get into the mix. It ain't so bad. This forum has had its share of controversy lately, but the vast majority of people on here are pretty decent folks. So what do you say? If you've never posted, sign in and tell us about yourself.
Great idea you came up with here JLW. There's plenty of lurkers out there that should try to participate here in the forums and this is definitely one way to get their feet wet. Peace, John.

Thanks Rude Dog. There's been some drama on here lately, but I think we should seize this opportunity to try to move forward and make this forum even better.

ps for all new posters- there was a thread called "Faces for the Names". I bumped it up so that those of you who are interested can post pics of yourselves or view pics of current members. Hope to hear from even more of you on here.

Mike Howerton should consider giving a small gift to JLW for increasing the membership here.
Vagabond, great idea but with what we are paying for the pleasure of this site, it may not be that large a gift (even for a small gift).

Mike H. (AZHousePro), serious thanks again for putting up with us and keeping this site going.

Seriously, JLW you really had a great idea. I'm sure we will continue getting new perspectives on the game we all love (or hate at times).

Hey Jerry, have you and your wife been on the tournament trail lately? I see that you don't post here as often as we'd like, just thought maybe you were out taking those nice pictures? If so, let's see 'em. Say hello to your wife for me, the two of you are really nice people and I wish I had a chance to run into you more often. Peace, John.

Hi, most of you know me, I have been around here for 5 years and my little friend in the corner is Stewie. You can see him on Sunday nights on the FOX network at Family Guy.

He's quite the feisty little one, like me! And says just what he feels, as well.

Welcome to all, and I hope that the recent flame wars have not defrayed anyone form joining our daily place of kinship.

I had an interesting conversation with a very famous pro - who told me about a friend who participated in AZB. The friend is described as a serious student of the game who really supports the WPBA and its causes - who also has a great love of the game. I checked the handle "Collection Guru" and found that he has never posted here. So, hello Collection Guru, I hope you will continue observing here and post if you have the inclination.

P.S. - send me a PM if you don't know what I'm talking about.

In Hiding

My name is Rob. I check in on this forum multiple times a day. I do not comment much as I am only a B player and do not have the overwhelming knowledge to give people. Also, I don't really take criticism that well....lol
I really like this forum and get many a laugh as well as great information.

Hi Rob, being a "B" player shouldn't stop you from posting or asking questions. Your input is appreciated just as much as the pro's or else there would be ONLY the "ASK THE PRO's" section to the forum. This isn't just about what you know or don't know, it's what you can contribute and get out of the forum. There's plenty of people in here that don't play that well and they would be the first to agree with that, but they ask questions and use that knowledge to better their game. Being a "B" player isn't something to be ashamed of, not that you are or that I think you are, but your playing abilility can help out others who aren't at that level. I'm not sure what level of player I am but I'm nowhere near what I used to be but with a lot of practice, I can and will get back to where i once was. I've seen so many different charts on the levels of play there is, AAA, AA, A, B, C, D, and everything in between, so it's hard to say where someone truly is. If I had to guess for my own level, if a top pro was a AAA, then I would be an A or a high B player. But, I have in the past played at a very high level and thought that I was one of those at the top. Maybe I was, maybe I wasn't, but if I wasn't, I wasn't far off. Anyway, my game got to that level because of practice, of course, but also I wasn't afraid to ask for advice from the better players nor was I afraid to use the advice from the players that didn't play as well as me but watched my game progress every single day and did have some valuable input for me. Sorry for being so long winded in this reply, but I hope you can take it for what it's worth and keep posting and asking questions and giving your input as well. Take care Rob, and peace, John.

Exactly.

Even those who do know a lot on the forum and are A+ and above players don't necesarily know what to post unless those with lesser knowledge ask questions. Often times they'll learn more from hearing and thinking about the question than they normally would have anyways.

Hey, I'm no pro myself, but there's a lot of great info on this forum. Don't be shy about asking questions and engaging in some healthy debate. Where else can you go and ask Hall of Fame players questions? I just wanted to encourage people to take advantage of that incredible opportunity.

Thanks for the welcome

I have been lurking for a while, I used to post alot at the CCB about 2 1/2 years ago, but went without internet for a while. I have a strong passion for the game of pool (with my favorite game being one pocket).
I live in the KC metro area. I learned "The Ropes" of the game at "Raytown Recreation" (The epitomy of a smoky pool room) but now play at Side Pockets in Lee's Summit Mo.
I am a father of a Five year old Son, who has an interest in playing "Pocket" So I have used his interest to convince his mom to allow me to build a pool room in the basement ;)

Thanks for the friendly welcome,
Scott Edwards
