Wasnt two of your associates there that you flew in ???

Umm. Didnt he fly two guys that he knew in ???

and who the fuck would leave that kinda money under the table and not keep a constant eye on it.

everybody probably split his half of the money.

Dont let it go at ALL~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Way too much cash to let go man.Dont back off.Your not talking about just a couple grand your talking 34 large. No way that cash was out of anyones eyes when you went to the John.I would not doubt if someone asks if you pay a percentige for a finders fee  We dont play that here and words going out when I hit sports 2000 tonight.Thats a brick!!!!!no way just no way!!!!! He dont want to come back here till thats taken care of . Please keep us posted.I have some players to tell

If it walks like a duck....................

Someone correct me if I'm wrong BUT, didn't Tony's crew have 17K in that envelope too? Tony and his boys should be even more upset than LilJon I would think. Stinks to high heaven of another great pool player being involved in something pretty friggin' rotten. :(

Go figure

I saw Lil John in Valley Forge this past year, and I was simply amazed by his demeanor on and off the table. I thought he was a gracious loser when a match did not go his way and a humble winner. You could tell that he loves the Action and loves to play for high stakes in front of large crowds.

The fact that this happened to Lil John really upsets me. I saw him pay up and shack the hands of the winner on more then one occasion. Based on what happened, I really hope that Tony is not foolish enough to think the 17K was worth it and is able to find the cash before the troubles associated with the cash find him.

Lil John, good luck... Hope things work out

Always a fan,

SS

Ditto.

I met LJ at the SBE this year as well and have to say the same....

It'll come around, hopefully.

LJ - That can't & won't ever happen here!

You know me & where I'm located so I don't have to mention it here.
HERE - That type of action & even much larger is always "In The Safe" and awarded to the winner after the match.

PLEASE DON'T LET THIS GO.

In my opinion, it is Tony's responsibility to "Get This Straightened Out" A.S.A.P.

We all know that there are people in major metro areas who can get immediate results with these types of thieves.
Someone like Tony (who either must know them or someone tied to them) should let them know just how serious this really is.
THEY LIKE ACTION MORE THAN ANYONE. And this could ruin it for all.

Unless they were in on it & THEN - Just forget it and mark it up as a lesson learned!

On a lighter note - I'm still looking forward to playing your driver some more of that 9 to 7 game of ours.

While I don't know Ruberto personally, I do know someone who grew up with him....Big time Sleaze this does'nt even surprise me... Did you call Dave Egdall the owner he might be able to help... Tony probably owes the bookies$$$$$

I just got back from Boston this morning where I was invited to play Tony Ruberto a 5,000 set of nine ball at Brighton Billiards in Brighton Center in Boston. I got there on Monday around 3:00 in the afternoon and had made an appointment to play Tony on Monday around 6:00 at the pool room. I flew in from Indy where I got into some good action prior the night before and was tired but b/c I said I was going to play I went ahead and played 10 ahead 7,000 and I lost. The agreement was that if I won I would pay all my expenses and if I lost they would pay my expenses so when I lost they handed me 700.00 back to cover round trip airfare, cab, and room. I asked what they wanted to do the next day and they said I could bet whatever I want so I flew in a friend from Tennesse and he arrived at 9:50 the next night and we were in action by 10:30 for 10 ahead for 11,500.00 and I won so I gave them half the money back for expenses and everything was fine. So I asked what do you guys want to do tommorrow. They said once again I can bet what I want so I called another friend from Slidell,LA and said lets try and play them set for 25,000 or more and he said I be there the next day. Me and my buddy wake up on Wensday and go to the poolroom and say we want to play for 17,000.00 and Tony says no problem, calls his man, and within the hour we are playing for 17,000 with 34,000 posted up in a resume size envelope that we put under the table b/c the owner had never been the the whole time we played and the worker said there was not a safe. The lights over the table were 3 prong lights with no solid base to put it on the light so I thought this would be the best thing. 4 hours later Tony is on the hill and 1 hour after that I am even. About six hours into the match I go to the restroom to wash my hands and face and come back out start playing again and about 30 minutes later I decide to get a tapper out of my case under the table and the resume envelope was gone. I tell Tony whats going on and he and all the sweaters start saying they dont know how it happened and they never saw anyone near the table. So the bottom line is I am out 17,000.00 and I guess I am a sucker for thinking you can travel to other parts and play for big money and expect to not have problems. Down south between Baton Rouge,Mobile,Hattiesburg, and New Orleans if you win you just win and if you loose you just loose. I know my money is gone but I wanted everyone to know that the Boston area is no good for action and we all know someone in Tonys click got the money and I would hate for the same thing to happen to someone else. LJOHN

Was he spotting you? If he was giving up too much weight, then it undoubtedly was a setup.

I'm not about to let this go!!

Believe me I'm not about to let this go something has got to give and I've been calling Tony for 1 and half days and no answer.I guess if he is going to continue playing pool it will be up north b/c there are some serious people down south upset over this whole deal...... I really like Tony and we got along fine the whole time I was there but this is beyond friends. If he wasnt involved he knows who was involved and we just got word 20 minutes ago that he is at Foxwoods playing 40/80. How can a guy that was broke two days ago play 40/80 today????? The more I think about it it makes me wanna puke and I'm gonna keep typing to stay calm!!! LJOHN

40/80??? Thats huge. You need at least 5g's for a game like that and i wouldn't play without 10g. Thats horseshit man, somethings up. Someone needs to go break this kids arms.

LJ - Don't do something Stupid!

I'm not advising you do nothing, (who am I to advise you anyway) but just do whatever you do smart. Call me @ the poolroom. I'm sure there are people here who know people there.
Don't forget - You make money - Money don't make you!

It amazes me at how some people choose to manage their pool playing career... I don't care how good you play pool- if you can't see past your greedy thieving hands, and dump/steal/lie to people- you are a piece of shit in my book, and you got no respect from me. It's unbelievable how many up and coming young players have 'talent' to play this game, yet zero brains. You want to make one big score? Guess what buddy, that's it. Some people don't deserve to have any action for the rest of their life. Then they can ask themselves if they really like playing pool for playing the game that they worked so hard to become good at. I won't name any names, but I can count a few of these type of people who walk around with a chip on their shoulder because they are skilled in pool, and got a name. Well I grew up in the country, and we base our friendships and respect for one another on merit, and size of heart. In all accounts, I don't know Lil John, but he is managing his career quite well, with the exception of a hiccup here, but to see someone doing it on the up and up- then getting screwed in the ass makes me sick too. I like action, gambling, and gamblers, but I despise thieves, and it looks like you got one in Baltimore.

That's poker terminology for the amount of the small and big blinds. It means that in order to play a hand, the minimum bet would be $80. Maximum buy-in would likely be $8,000 which players will typically do, especially in a no-limit game. Average pot size would probably be around $500-$1,000.

Thought it was Boston not Baltimore ?
