purpleheart

you either love it or hate it
aint no in between

i had a local guy tell me absolutely thought the ph shaft i was letting him use, hit better than his maple shaft, but he just flat out refuses to use ph

Nothing wrong with Purpleheart at all!!!

I love it, as well as the "classic" look. Click the link in my sig to see pics of my cue. No Purpleheart shafts, though.

lol

If you think people will make fun of you playing with purple cues, how much do you want for them?

Nothing wrong with purple, almost any color is OK. But if a guy had a pink stick,,,,there would be a problem.lol
I did see a dude with a stick that lit up,,yep ,,had a blinking light in it!! Was playing a league,,and he wasn't very good. But he got everyone's attention. Not a great idea!!

I have never understood why men have such an aversion to the color purple. They always say "It's a girls color". Heck, I thought PINK was a girls color. How many colors do they get (my wife would say "As many as they WANT" :sorry:) I once bought a motorcycle for my wife that was purple. I rode it sometimes. Got a lot of "I can't believe you'd ride around on a PURPLE bike" type of comments. It was a very nice-looking bike. She also shoots with a Lucasi LE cue with purple inlays/points that I would have no problem playing with if I didn't have my cues with me.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I am one man that has no aversion to purple. Geez, the Minnesota Vikings football team wears purple and I dare most men to tell some of them that they are wearing a "girls" color :D!!!

Hey, sourhed87, welcome to the forum!!!

Nice looking and I'll bet hitting Cues there!

I have a PH shaft that I use from time to time that hits and sounds great. I usually have it on my break/jump cue but will use it on my main player from time to time. It weighs 4.6 ounces, has a long pro taper and hits as stiff as a conical tapered shaft without having that increasing thick feel in your bridge hand. I guess I'm secure enough to use a dark purple shaft as the properties and feel of the wood I feel trump the slightly unusual color. Anyway to each his own and if losing to a guy with a purple cue shaft is a problem then don't play that guy...lol

IMO I do think it hits about as well as a really well aged stiff maple shaft and it sure doesn't get shaft dings very easily. At any rate a major plus is that just about any cue you put it on will be slightly more forward balanced.

Purpleheart plays outstanding.. I love it and have no issues playing with it.. I guess I'm pretty secure with my manhood that I don't give a crap what people think.. I live pink ivory wood too and would not hesitate playing with a cue that had pink ivory..

It would be extra sweet kicking someone's arse on the table that made fun of my pink or purple cue.. :)

that purple heart shaft is a break jump shaft with phenolic tip, not a player it hits really hard, very pleased with the results.

Over here, there's a pretty good shortstop that plays with a "pink" cue. He's also in one of the regional MC chapters, and proudly sports his colors. Big guy -- and you don't want to call his cue "pink" either. "It's fuchsia," he sternly says, eyes glaring at you like laser beams. For all I care, he can play with one of those pink Stealth cues with the butt-plug handle; I for one 1.) ain't going to argue with him, and 2.) couldn't really care less anyway -- I'm more concerned how well he can play, and he certainly can.

I personally like the look of purpleheart. It's a beautiful wood, and I'm thinking of having my local cue luthier make me a break cue almost entirely out of purpleheart -- shaft included. Yes, it'll be heavy and stiff, but I'm expecting that, and prefer that in a break cue.

And, just before I'm about to break, I can turn around to my opponent, point to my purpleheart break cue, and, in my best imitation of Dolph Lundgren's voice in that famous Rocky movie line, exclaim, "I must break cue!" :D

i got into huge argument with some jackass one nite over purpleheart
he saw a ph cue i had with me showing to a guy,
walks up like he's mr fkn know it all, and proceeds to ask me what kind of dye i used to make the cue purple
it went on and on, until i finally told him to get his ass out into my truck with me, and i'd take him up to shop and cut a piece of purpleheart for him to see that the wood is purple, not dyed or else get the hell away from me and stfu ;) he stfu

Check out the cues listed on my signature page

Nothing wrong with purple. I painted my basement walls deep purple at my wife's suggestion. She is an artist and it did turn out well, if you ask me. The tourney blue simonis on my Diamond really stands out nicely.
