To the AZB staff regarding Bonus Ball

In light of the revelation that the BB crew is delinquent on their debt to AZB, I would like to propose that no press coverage or news relating to BB is posted on the AZB front page and that any and all threads in the forums that comment on BB be deleted until such time as BB makes good on said debt.

I'm sure the BB crew is enjoing all of this free publicity and to continue granting BB that publicity when they haven't paid for advertising as agreed is just lunacy.

Based on the majority of posts I hardly think that it's been positive. More like a public service notice.

The only way this Phoenix rises is if someone pays big money to get it out of the can and onto well played/paid air. Tim, I seriously doubt anything typed here is going to move that needle.

I hope it gets off the ground, I really do. It's an awesome game that brings elements of so many games together. The team dynamic is huge. It needs some simplification, and per a FB post by Michaela, that's occurred.

It's advertised on Craigslist for 2 mill. ;) Any takers?

Matt <-- not counting them out just yet!

I, too, am not counting them out just yet, Matt. There are several indicators that there is still some life left in the organization: 1) there is at least one investor who is not ready to throw in the towel, 2) none of the players are complaining about not being paid after the recent finish of the filming in Vegas, 3) AZB must have been paid for advertising since they just put up a new event page for Bonus Ball, and 4) I know that there are new plans in the works for marketing Bonus Ball in a new and different way.

I'm just going to stay tuned; the show ain't over yet.

Roger, I have nothing but the utmost respect for you and your extensive contributions to this forum and the industry as a whole. For Bonus Ball to stiff Lee Brett, who was brought on board to lend credibilty to this start up, tells the pool community what these people are all about. Stiffing the ball girls? These are someones daughters who deserve better. The mouth pieces for BB, condesendingly mocked the members here by informing the community we were not their target audience. Around the same time the Bonus Ball execs ran banner ads on this site and more than a year later those ads are unpaid for. After the mid season collapse they flew in Michaela Tabb from the UK, again for creds, while giving Lee Brett the one finger salute. What of the the pool fans who paid for a season of streaming and can not get refunds? The unity Raj described sadly didn't extend to Lee, AZB and the ball girls and who knows how many others. Roger, when I first read you extoling the virtues of Bonus Ball and the "great ride to come" I couldn't have disagreed with you more. After everything we have seen to date from Larry and his minions, for you once again to proclaim "I know that there are new plans in the works for marketing Bonus Ball in a new and different way", I must now ask you two questions. Were you paid for this or your previous endorsement of Bonus Ball? What do you know about the new plans in the works for the marketing of Bonus ball in a new and different way that the rest of the majority here do not?

I like the idea actually. And don't think for one second BB has more clout in the industry than AZB. You know damn well they aren't going to pay Jimbo for adverts... Where else are they going to go?

Excellent queries. Although I am one of those who has always cheered for Bonus Ball, I too would be interested in knowing, with all due respect, how Roger knows of the forthcoming "new and improved Bonus Ball?"

Tim, I agree on no front page coverage as they haven't earned it.

Maybe a sticky in the Main Forum for all to see that BB hasn't paid their debt.

As far as threads go, sometimes No News is Good News. I'm sure they would prefer that there are no threads re BB as they are anything but positive.

Let them slap each others bums on Face Book if they like.

Most times there is a method to madness. I think maybe AZ owners get the last laugh
over some of the threads. I doubt that you will see any get deleted in the near future.

I respectfully disagree. While it's tempting to want to withhold coverage because of unpaid debt (advertising I'm guessing), the play is be that in order to get paid by BB, AZB needs to do what they can to help them succeed. I'm not saying to throw good money after bad by giving them more credit for advertising, but covering their events and encouraging discussion on the boards could help them build a fan base.

If AZB shuts them down and BB goes away. What then?

Quietly? Hardly. Like the theme of most of W. Shakeaspear's plays, Man is Master of His Own Destiny.

Boner ball has certainly been the Master of their own demise, and pretty much from the start. Like, if they could ever start over, would they ever have a game plan to study eh.
As in, s hit not to do and people not to let represent you when starting a business.

They made history, not good history but it will be forever remembered by all who witnessed this short era in pool.

upon further review, maybe the forum thing was a bit much.

Let's see now: stiffed Lee, stiffed AZB, stiffed players, stiffed ball girls, stiffed investors and Lord knows who else. So my response to "What then?" is good riddance! Billiards needs and deserves much better.

I appreciate your concern, and your interest in seeing that fairness and honesty prevails in this matter. I will gladly try to answer your questions to the best that I am able at this particular time.

No, I have never been paid for any endorsement of Bonus Ball. Nor have I ever been paid for any articles I've written for AZB. I have merely been a contributing writer, and I write things that are my own opinions and viewpoints, and not meant to reflect the opinions of anyone on the staff of AZB. However, I do have several friends who play for the WPBL, so I'll admit that I have always been optimistically hopeful that Bonus Ball would succeed for their benefit.

I am a personal friend of Lee Brett, and I am sorry that he is unhappy with the treatment he got from the WPBL. But the evidence provided by both sides in these forums make it too difficult for me to draw a conclusion at this time on what really happened in that relationship. By Lee's own admission, he did get paid a certain amount in cash, and then was given ball sets to sell as payment for the rest. But a discrepancy obviously exists somewhere, otherwise, why would Lee lodge a complaint on these forums? However, it sounds to me like the matter is now in the hands of the proper authorities, so time will tell.

AZB just recently put up a new event page for Bonus Ball which seems to be very strong evidence that the WPBL has paid their advertising debt with AZB. And even if the debt hasn't been paid, AZB's continued support for Bonus Ball should tell us all that they know something we don't.

As for the new plans, I have personally witnessed two visits to Phoenix by Bonus Ball's primary investor, who came here to discuss those plans with another friend of mine. My friend has given me a few details of those plans, but other than that, I don't know much. And of the little I do know, I haven't been given permission to discuss publicly. I can only say that there is something going on.

And as for the girls in Vegas not getting paid; I don't know anything about that, and I don't think anyone else here does, either.

Also, I am one of those people who paid for the full season of streaming, and has not received a refund. I guess I could be holding a grudge over that, but for some reason, I am not. I suppose it's because I don't think the collapse was intentional and that somehow everything will work out for the best for everyone within time.

I still think Bonus Ball is a great game. The 3-man team format is great. The production quality is great. And the performances by the players were GREAT! Plus, I was given a warm welcome by Larry and his staff (including Lee) in Vegas, and was given a demonstration of how Bonus Ball is played, before anyone even realized who I was, or why I was there. It was all fun and exciting! I was sold on it. I guess I still am.

I don't know for sure if Bonus Ball will ever work out; but I'm still hoping.

Pretty similar to things I have heard. As afar as Lee goes, and I don't know him, I've heard he was treated the way he was because he earned it. Instead of being patient, like the others that were owed debts (and this doesn't excuse the unpaid debts), Lee set out on a scorched earth policy on social media and forums alike. I didn't bother answering him when he said he could be the most hated man in pool, but its my understanding that he's already achieved that status. At least from all the players that participated in BB. Now, I'm not taking BB's side, nor am I taking Lee's, but their is more to this story than what most of us know. Same goes for the on going plans for BB. The main obstacle here is Larry. He doesn't deserve any success with this venture because he's the one responsible for its failures, thus far. Complain all you want about Nathan and the crew, but their job descriptions grew everyday because so much was left undone by Larry.

I too hope BB succeeds. It's only chance is in being sold to a network or entertainment studio. If that occurs, it will be good for pool and good for the players.

Bremner spoke up publicly. Lee spoke up. Fact. Gag order of sorts for all else???

WHY aren't people in the know speaking up? IMO, it's cause it's on tenuous ground - perhaps money held over heads, trust in a difficult industry - and it could go either way.

BTW, what is an entertainment studio?

I too hope it sells. Lots of good people could benefit IF done FOR the industry.

If you go to facebook, Barry Bremner will accept friendship requests and will answer all questions concerning Bonus Ball. He is an outstanding guy that was the first to stand uo and reveal to everyone about the financial lies of the WPBL. He has told me that he is or has been threatened with lawsuits by Chiborak and eventually settled to leave the company he formed with Chiborak. People I talked to in Canada say he was the one who made Bonus Ball who. Made the modern game we see today.
