Todays Sneaky Pete cues

It's all in your personal preference, I like a wrapless wood to wood joint but others may like something less covert. My Joss isn't a covert sneaky it's just a tad bit fancier version of one. I used to feel the same way you do about sneaky's but to each their own. No one will be sneaking up on anyone anytime soon these days no matter what cue they're using!

Very true.
But a 70 year old guy with a true Sneaky instead of his fancy Meucci might be able to hustle a few bucks without too much notice . ;)

I agree 100% with you Brother Ron, there's a guy in my league i play that uses a house cue and shoots lights out.

there isn't a cue in the world that once is screwed will look like a one piece house cue.
any new cue, a few days in and the seam of the joint will be visible on any wood to wood joint. In fact it would look so ugly that I prefer a sneaky pete with some sort of collars at the joint.
Another issue with a cue that is too "sneaky" is that some idiot might think it's a house cue and pick it up to use it...
In times where any APA2 players carry around a $3000 set of cues, you shouldn't have an issue getting some action with any cue.

is that some idiot might think it's a house cue and pick it up to use it..
I had an extreme idiot not only try to use it but also refused to release it. His death grip was above the joint, so I griped it below the joint. He braced himself for a tug a war. I didn't pull but just started unscrewing the butt from the shaft that he had both hands on. It was almost completely unscrewed when he finally relented and released my cue.
Had he opted to continue the battle....my butt would have significant advantage over what remained in his hands. 🤷‍♂️

The break jump cue picktured in my kit breaks down at two joints. Both are discernable but not obvious. The phenolic tip would have been an unpleasant surprise if I had allowed the idiot to hit a ball with it. 🤷‍♂️

maybe your young lol but the first sneaky Pete’s were exactly that. They looked like a 1 piece . I have one that I could put in a rack and you’ll never know. at some point they got fancy. If you put a collar and a butt cap on it it’s no longer sneaky just a wrap less cue. To me there is a difference. I don’t have a problem with it.. it’s just not a sneaky.

Who cares what an apa 2 carry’s in their case. They are supporting the game if they can afford it let them buy it. Pool always seems to get in their feelings about that. In golf a 20 handicap buys a new $1k driver and no cares. Lol we just ask to hit a ball with it to check it out.

Back in the day....😉 The guys that showed up with All the high dollar gear to go with their fancy expensive cue, Wouldn't bet a dollar that water was wet. 🤷‍♂️ Well my first ask was always, "shall we play for a beer?" If that was accepted, after 3 I would propose $5. At that time 3 beers was my , uh natural condition 🤷‍♂️

I was playing a guy once. He went to break and couldn't find his break cue. He'd left it lieing on the next table over. Someone had grabbed it and was playing a few tables away. Looked nothing like a sneaky and had a break tip on it.
Doesn't matter what the cue looks like, you have to keep an eye on them.

Another old fart story. 😉
I always kept my cue with me in a tavern. It went with me to the men's room. At the urinal I would place it behind me against the wall so it wasn't getting splashed. A Thief actually tried to take it as he passed behind me. I always kept it within my peripheral visible range and as soon as his hand touched it I gave a warning. "You have ahold of more than you want to F*** with.," Was my warning without interupt of stream. He released it to slink away. 🤷‍♂️
