Tony was wrong, and worse yet ... He is a Finagler!!! That puts him in the class of 'Lounge Lizards' .....

I'm surprised that happened in Louisiana without someone getting a BOP on the nose.

( Shreveport ? Man, those North Louisiana boys sure are a peaceful lot... imo ) :)

Btw, it's about as far from New Orleans to Shreveport,La. as it is from New Orleans to Central Florida....

Tony IS a cheat and the finals should be a true double elimination match.

Sorry to say this happened in my home stomping grounds, Baton Rouge. Joey and the young man were both at the qualifier in Shrevesport and that is where Joey heard the story. The worst kind of chickenchit move to pull on someone just learning the game; we need enthusiastic newcomers in the worst way and then they get treated like this.

It was common as dirt to run into those make up the rules as they went guys when I did a little traveling a few decades ago. I was always assured that whatever they wanted was the local practice. Almost without fail my opponent would eventually fall victim to the same "foul" or I would do the same thing that they had sworn earlier wasn't a foul when they did it. Not being as tolerant as the young man in this story, I made them play by the rules that they had made up.

This only happens when someone is playing on their own turf and thinks they can get away with anything. These guys are the worst sort of lock artists and thieves and don't have the guts to crawl out of their holes and play anywhere else. I have to admit that being older, maybe wiser, and definitely less patient than I once was I don't let folks play these shenanigans anymore.

You have just disregarded the fact that Tony DID call a foul on the kid in their FIRST match, that Tony, being an experienced 1-Pocket player, KNEW was NOT A FOUL and then thought he could get away with this in front of a public forum.

Even without prior discussion of rules, THIS IS AN ACT OF TOTAL DISHONESTY!!! Conclusion:

Tony IS A CHEAT and the kid is fully within his right to make this fact known at the top of his lungs!

I hate this type of stuff. Why go through all the effort to "play" a game to "win" money when, instead, you can just wait for the kid to leave, hold a gun to his head and just take the money -- done in a flash with hardly any effort! This is basically what Tony did with his "called foul." Dressing this up in "poolplayer's trappings" (pun INTENDED) makes this kind of act no better than an outright armed robbery.

Tony might think twice about pulling this kind of crap again! JoeyA, If I'm ever in your area, be sure to let me know who Tony is and I will be sure NOT to play him. If he ever heads up my way, please PM me and let me know -- he doesn't deserve an HONEST game anywhere in the PacNW.

All I know about this Tony is he and the kid played at Click's Billiards in Baton Rouge. The kid reads the forum but is a lurker. I promised I would pose the question to the rest of the AZers.

Finagler!.....love that word, not heard it in years:)

In Uk they say 'sauce' for the goose not 'good' for the goose....must be a yank thing:)

I can't believe after all of the talk about derogatory terms, you are still calling us mean-spirited names. :p

From a prevoius thread:

"I know that the majority of you good people thought that I was the hall of fame basketball player walt frazier ,but actually my name is Tony Green .."

"I am originally from Dallas, but I currently reside in Baton Rouge"

Or, Somebody Named Anthony (or in Louisiana...Antney)

It's not me guys .I know a dozen Tony's that play pool .It might be that Annigoni LoL.

Yeah, it might be Tony Chohan or Tony The Tiger...
Doug
(or Tony "Two Times"..... Tony "Two Times" ) :)

probably not Walt

Probably wasn't Walt. The Tony that the kid was talking about was a dark complexioned guy who wore one of those funny looking hats with a funny name.

Yeah, it's fair to call Tony a cheat but not worth it. No it's not a foul to touch a ball in one pocket. You move it back to where it was.

In Winning One Pocket Jersey Red is playing an opponent who wanted to insist that touching a ball is a foul. Red asked him if he really wanted to insist on it being a foul. The opponent said yes and with that Red swept all the balls to his pocket and said, "now I owe two."

In the US Open it's a one set finals.

That's a good story. If Tony took advantage of the kid and then reversed the rules then he is a cheat, therefore it is fair to call him that.

I believe ya, I really do. You aren't the only Tony..
Doug

It's probably not Walt Frazier aka Tony Green/Kamakiriad but the kid wants me to come over to Baton Rouge and put some azz-whup on Tony the Cheater over at Click's. :D

Click's is kind of a kid's pool hall more so than a regular pool hall like Bayou Billiards, where Walt hangs out.

I don't know if it has ever been mentioned before, but I do not like the finger-lickers.

I have witnessed many unnamed great pool players go to rack the balls, and after they remove the rack, they take their licked finger and touch the head ball in the rack.

Now, upon initial glance, this may only appear to be somebody trying to get a tight rack, but this is finger-licking, a practice which should not be allowed to happen. I see it time and time again. After the rack is removed, no fingers, licked or not licked, should touch the balls, IMHO.

Do you think that finger-licking the balls is a legal maneuver, or is it a way to rig the rack?

JAM

I know someone(no name) who use to touch his lip's, then proceed to touch the ace for tightness...........Yea Right!!!
Question of the day.....What was on this guys lips that he use to touch them????
