Too Much Arguing In Booth @ TS

Didn't like Danny D before but think he is ok now
Some crazy stories (probably fictional) overheard from him
-that he played some guy and leading 10-5 and then other guy shots 6 golden breaks to win the match

Forgot about other crazy story I heard from him
I am getting too old for this
:D

As was pointed out the stream is free.

The commentators have a lot of time to fill in and I don't think it is easy. I don't see too many standing in line begging to get in the booth

🎱

They dont seem to have ANY trouble constantly yammering at all. It seems pretty easy.

Meaning his commentary is like that of maddens. Its like its for simple minding people

I eventually muted the commentary. Couldn't stand it any longer. The final straw was when Danny said the break in 9 ball is overrated..............wow!!!

I enjoy Danny's presence but he should act as the color analyst, not the primary play by play caller.

Sometimes we think we no longer want to hear someone speak. I have felt that way about some older gentleman in my poolroom. Then they are gone and I truly miss their voice and stories.

I for one am not looking forward to the day when I can not look forward to hearing Danny's commentary on live stream. I have met him a few times and he is a very nice guy to talk to and always takes time to chat with folks.

Pat, ,AZ and all the other major streamers keep Danny in the booth!!!

Wedge

I definitely and wholeheartedly second this message!
I've had the great pleasure of meeting, talking n sharing a meal with DD (a few times)... The gentleman gets THE FREE pass folks.
Nothing but love n respect for DD!

I always enjoy Danny's commentating. Even when he goes off on a tangent it's okay as it is often interesting.

A lot of knowledge there, both about the game and about people.

Danny is an encyclopedia of pool. It is good to hear him. That Eddie person has to go.
Al tried to slow him down a couple times sat. nite. finally after a match and the next one started Al came back with no Eddie, it was good then.

They say if you don't like it, turn it off. I started to watch on Sunday and the first thing I hear is machine gun mouth Eddie rambling. I watched the wpba qualifier and then the
duel of the dames. I came to azb this morning to find out who won the Turning Stone.
Yes, I didn't like it and yes, I turned it off.

I try not to ***** about commentators, especially on free streams, but I agree with this (and I'm not complaining about Danny at all). I don't know which is worse - listening to Eddie constantly interrupting everyone or listening to him tell a champion and hall of famer like Danny that he's wrong about where the balls are going to go (Danny was always right).

If Eddie is ever in the booth again, I would strongly urge him to (a) talk a lot less, especially not over people; and (b) when in the booth with someone like Danny (or any other top player), ASK questions rather than debating (for example "Danny, would you go forward on this shot or draw it back?" "If you go forward, how do you miss the 3 ball?").

He might be an encyclopedia of pool but we know how outdated most of those are. His comments about Ko Pin Chung were so off base or the break not being a big deal. At this level, anyone with a clue knows that could be the difference between who wins & loses these days. He is behind the times and should not be commentating.

Well stated.
I said this 2-3 years ago and the majority of people here wanted to burn me alive almost. (for giving critique about the 'sacred cow')
At least he has stopped with the history of how tough he was in boxing and fighting and knocking people out in the poolrooms. I never understood how grown men could swallow that stuff from a little shrimp 155 pound guy like him.
He has outlived his usefulness.

Here's the way I saw it, and for those of you that don't know ... I love Danny, but he was tough on Ed.

I believe that we witnessed a relatively short dose of Ed Culhane. Seems like a nice guy. In fact I'd enjoy hanging with him I think .... he'd be fun, but .... I think it's obvious he can get a little trying when attempting to converse about the game.

Danny, I'm sure has had much lengthier doses (LOL) and may be far more annoyed by him.

That's just my take. Toward the end Al wouldn't even acknowledge Culhane was talking. Al just about gave up trying to get a full sentence out of his mouth.

Listen, it's all good. The characters make half the game. Not to mention 9 ball sucks and the bantering makes it enjoyable.

Danny told some fresh stories I hadn't heard. He is fine. People whine about everything. It's a free stream - be happy we have commentary at all and especially from esteemed people like Danny Diliberto and Pat Fleming.

I like DD. He brings a lot of stuff to the booth. He's old school. Just mute it! In fact the only time I don't mute is when DD is on....

it does not help the image of our sport to have a broadcaster who speaks fifth-grade English.

Non of the people in the booth can pronounce their "th's". 5th grade may be accurate. I like Danny in the booth. He knows a lot about pool. His eyesight is not the best causing him to miss some calls but overall he adds color and fun to the broadcast. He is his own man when calling a match and does not settle just to be agreeable. His stories may sometimes be a stretch but make us laugh anyway. Keep Danny!

Agreed. Nine ball should never be slop. Call shot all the way. It was only made slop to satisfy the t.v. Croud. Go back to call shot. No more sissy pool!

Actually, after Upstate reigned him in a bit, Eddie wasn't too bad near the end.

I don't think Al reigned him in at all. Al just ignored everything that Eddie said
Which made Al look a little bit like a kid who got his toy taken away. Eddie
Did decent on commentary but he constantly has to talk. You can definitely
Tell that he's very passionate about pool and that's a good thing in a way
but too much rambling

I agree with johnnyt though it's a constant argument when Danny is in the booth
because to him, nobody else is ever right when they say somethin. Then it gets
out of control
