Top 10 current players in the world. Who and why?

no Fu after he just won the Challenge of Champions and knocked off Orcullo 5-2, 5-1??

He's gonna be in the top 10 at least now.
Nope, Fu Jian Bo is not one of the top Asians yet, Challenge of Champions is a lottery.... I think he would be the top Mainland Chinese, but he is way off the pace of the top Filipinos and Taiwanese.

Chang JL needs to win something other than the Guinness 9 ball Tour, and in the presence of the best 'world' players before he can be considered..

What he said...

Chang Jung-Lin and Yang Chin-Shun's greatest strength are their 9-ball break, which won't obviously work in a triangle rack-up in 10 balls. Wu Chia-Ching would've been in the top 10, except most, if not all Taiwanese players won't leave their comfort zone.

I don't blame them though, because they're earning the kind of money they would've earned playing somewhere else. They have their own tour in Chinese-Taipei that runs the whole year round while playing in their own backyard, the Guinness tour stops are just one of the perks of the job.

When it comes to B&R that's being racked by a neutral ref, it will be a toss-up between Django and SVB, a "grind-it-out" game will favor Alex, Dennis, Corey, Ralf and Efren, but not necessarily in that order.

When it comes to consistency playing 10-balls, Alcano and Neils are tops in my book...

I think Jasmin Ouschan belongs on the list.

I think the only reason you picked Jasmin is because she's a woman. That's sexist towards men

donno why orcollo is ahead of yang. he can't beat yang at long run?

If it is 9 ball we're talking about, it's definitely Yang.
My top 10 and no offense to the current WTB champion Darren Appleton:

Ronnie Alcano
Niels Feijen
Dennis Orcullo
Shane Van Boening
Wu Chia Ching
Efren Reyes
Alex Pagulayan
Ralf Souquet
Mika Immonen
Yang Ching-Shun

My top ten would include:

1. Wu, because I happen to think he is the most talented player on planet Earth today. Doesn't mean he will win all the time.
2. Dennis O., because I love his game, and his attitude.
3. Yang, another scary good player who fears no one for good reason.
4. Alex P., when he gets it going no one has to like it.
5. Ralf, perhaps the most consistently good player day in day out.
6. Mika, must be on any list of top players. Always in contention.
7. Chang, just one more product of the Taipei killer pool factory.
8. Ronnie A., Filipino, Filipino, Filipino!
9. Francisco B., see above.
10. Shane, backs down from no man. Loves a challenge.

Honorable mention to Johnny Archer, who is still capable of winning any tournament he enters.

Just noticed I have four filipinos on my top ten, three Chinese, two Europeans and one American. That's just about right too.

10. Johnny A., Still deserves to be on this list. Capable of winning in any field.

You don't like putting your boy SVB against your 10 playing 10 ball Jay???

hahaha! Caught you Jay! We practically have the same 10 except for your Django against my Niels and your Chang against my Efren!

Niels still has a few lapses and Efren is near retirement. Sad to say but he misses more balls now.

in no particular order:
SVB
Pagulayan
Orcollo
Alcano
Efren
Wu
Souquet
Morris
Yang
Django.............
if they were playing for the money i'd bet orcullo or alcano

my top ten players(rotation games only)

1 Alex
2 Corteza
3 SVB
4 Orcullo
5 Yang(may be higher but hard to say since he can't come to the states)
6 Wu
7 Alcano
8 Archer
9 Corey I would agree that if the soft break is allowed Corey would run the most racks if not I'll say Alex(super underrated breaker)
10 Souquet
