Tor Lowry interviews Robert Byrne

I work with a guy who is his nephew. He found out that I am a pool enthusiast and asked me if I knew Robert Byrne. In his family Robert is known as crazy Uncle Bob. He also wrote 632 famous quotations.

This is a great interview, thanks for linking it. I love the Omar Sharif story.

I thin he wrote 4 632 quotations book and fifth also compiled them all into one. He had a bunch of pool videos and also a couple of pool books. Must be good to be Crazy Uncle Bob.

I was lucky enough to have Bob Byrne be my house guest for three days back in the '80's. He charmed everyone and was simply wonderful company. For many years after that, my non-billiard-playing friends would say to me, "When is your pool player buddy going to come and visit again." I am equally happy that Bob still inquires about some of my friends when I occasionally see him, although that is much too infrequently.

His reflections on hustler stories and our fascination with them struck a responsive chord in me, but there is still something to them which holds a fascination for one who was raised to stay completely within the lines.

A very nice interview.

Byrne also wrote several disaster books including one that got made into a movie.

Thanks for posting. He is a great asset to the game and a very nice guy. I've exchange emails over the years and he was always willing to respond and answer questions. We've had a few discussions on Danny. I own several of his books in several additions in my collection with a couple of autographed. A great guy.

Excellent ! It was nice how just a few questions were asked, so that he would be speaking most of the time. Thanks for the link.

"That's a painting by my wife, she calls it "Long Shot"". Perfect depiction of how I feel shooting long shots. Thanks for posting the video, good stuff.
