Total Offense 14.1 Tournament

In thinking about increasing play and promoting our game which is at my core of my thinking and behavior on AZ....and reading about the DCC 14.1 competition and the old Strickland post Jewett dug up. Here's something that could easily take off.

Have a dbl elim event. Each player starts off with 14 balls racked, one obj ball in hand and cue ball in hand to start each inning like DCC. Each player then gets X amount of BIH start offs, lets say 5. Add up the total balls made by each player for their combined 5 innings to determine who goes to the A side and the B side.

What if people are running 50 + per inning-- with 5 innings each one game would take HOURS!

I play equal offense a lot. I prefer it to the game Earl suggested because it is bih behind the head string after the break and because the balls spread in such a way to limit the number of break balls available.

I would enjoy a pro level equal offense tournament.

Handicap it. The "C" player gets for example 10 innings, the B player gets 5. Etc. That's a tough one to handicap though.

Yep, but what's nice, it's actually a game that CAN be handicapped. You could play Orcullo, he gets two innings, and you get 10, or??? He only gets one inning and you get 7 innings.

You could also do no count - race to XXX, XX no count for the pro although I prefer equal offense.

Seems like this would be roughly similar to the qualifying rounds for the DCC 14.1. Anyone who's been there will probably agree that the qualifying rounds are the least interesting part of the competition.

With the stats on player dollar amounts each year increasing dramatically, I thought just the opposite. Must a bad idea eh?
