Transparent stickers on new cues

Helmsletter and Lucasi
This is my first post here. I'm interested in buying a new cue, but so many have these transparent stickers or labels near the base of the shaft. Is it a problem to just peel it off, or will it leave a sticky residue behind?

Probably most are put on with a low tack glue.
Be careful, even some finishes can be affected using alcohol.
Your first few inches of the shaft will usually be finished.
Use a Magic Eraser or shaft cleaner to remove the glue.
Some of the time you can rub it off with a finger.
Just damp a small corner of a folded paper towel and dip in some dish detergent
and test a small area.

Hardly any of the clear stickers are difficult to remove. Some of the white ones can be difficult. A Magic Eraser will remove most residue...just be careful...you may need to wax the area where you use the Magic Eraser.

Goo-Gone is great for removing any sticky residue. You can pick it up at Staples or most hardware stores, if any residue is left on the cue. Most of it truly presents no problem getting off, though.

If you are buying the cue at a store rather than online, have them remove it to your satisfaction prior to paying for it.

I'm considering buying a predator shaft for my wife's helmsetter. I know she would monk out over the sticker, that's why I asked about removing it.
I have a Lucasi, but I'm looking up everything I can find on the predator as well as other cues before spending my hard earned money on another cue.

Monk Out.
Thats a new one for me. Perhaps you can explain the origin of that one.
I like new sayings.

It's an inside joke between my wife and I. Years ago we used to like watching the tv show "Monk" about the police detective that had "ticks" if you will. This is the reason for the comment, that it would be distracting for her to play pool with the sticker on the side of the cue, lol .

I had a dog that had "ticks" once. Yea, I had to divorce her, she kept chewing up my credit cards!

Thank you folks... I will be here all night! :)

peel the label off then take a little mineral spirits on a paper towel to rub off the sticky residue.works great and wont hurt the finish.mineral spirits is not abusive to any cue finish that i know off.

Labels

If you are talking about the sticker on a new predator shaft then yess it will come off. If you are talking about the cat logo with the numbers 314-2 or Z2 right above the joint collar then no those wont come off as they are under the finish.

Never done this on a cue, but warming up the label with a blow drier will soften up the adhesive and they often peel off leaving no residue. Again, I have not tried this on a clear-coat finished cue. I do know that a Magic Erasor will scratch (dull) a high gloss finish (no, I did not do this on a cue, but have messed up some furniture :embarrassed2: ).

Goo Gone, zippo lighter fluid, WD-40, Goof Off are all good choices to remove sticky residue from decals and labels.

Is it legal to put stickers on cue sticks?

I play league and wanted to customize my ferrule with some smiley stickers.

That type of humor can make playing long matches less stressful.
