Tree Piece Cue in Carry-on Luggage

I cut up a house cue into 4 pieces and put it inside my carryon school bag as a test. I went on I think 5 domestic flights with it. No problems.

This thread reminded me, about 2 months ago I was flying domestically and saw a player in the airport with a standard 58” cue and case on his back! I talked with him and he wasn’t worried at all. I was shocked. Looking back, I can’t remember if we were before or after security.

I travel for work on a regular basis (2-3 times/month). I almost always bring a subset of my cues with and always check them. I use a hard case (instroke vinyl) locked (TSA approved lock) inside a predator travel bag. Never had any issues.

I carry a $1200 lighter. I took it with me to a bachelor party and they almost confiscated it. I had to talk nice to the lady and told her what it was.

At first glance nobody would even think it is a lighter. Not doing that again.

To bring expensive cues is a no. Unless they let us carry it on is how I see it.

Thing is, no matter how many times you hear about someone taking theirs as a carry on, do you want to risk that they will be enforcing it, with you? So be prepared to leave it behind if they scan the bag, see it, and say you can't take it on.

To me, flying (and specifically getting thru the airport and onto the plane) is such a hassle, I certainly don't want to add more to it than necessary.

Truth. And shopping for what youd like to be on Azb is a waste of time.

Pool cues are or were on the disallowed list to go in carry on. A three piece cue might make a more effective weapon than a two piece.

I had to laugh about the cue and case on a person's back. Gate security at the petro chem plants was the same way. I could tote out a thousand dollars worth of tools on my belt but had to raise the tray in my lunchbox to show I wasn't hiding anything in there.

Reminds me of one more chuckle. A friend worked at Kaiser Aluminum. One year he had a very small Kaiser decal on his stock car door. I asked why. "They are sponsoring me."

"Why is the decal so small?"

"They don't know they are sponsoring me!"

I’d love to have a three piece cue to try out for work travel. I’ll visit pool halls when I can but those trips aren’t worth checking or shipping my cues. Often I play with some really bad house cues off the wall. I’m not savvy enough to know someone that would build them and actually be able to contact them and get something going. I reached out to someone once but no response.
