Triangle tips are my favorite

I installed a Triangle on the 12.9 Revo. Plays as good or better than a tip 5-35 times it's cost.

I bought ten 13mm Triangles several months ago. I just randomly picked one up and installed it. I'm quite happy with it. Maybe I got lucky with the one I picked. So what am I suposed to be looking for when picking between the ten?....or maybe....what is a "Red flag" for inferior quality. If I happen to install one of inferior quality, what will I notice?

I use one on my tournament cue. I use a layered tip on my practice cue, but still prefer the Triangle. I guess it is because I have used them for so many years.

Hard pressed Triangle for me. They require no maintenance. Old school tips. There is so much hype and marketing in pool to separate you from your dollars. Triangles are about a buck apiece. If you want to spend $20 on a tip, have a ball. You can by an $1800 production cue too. Or $500 on a production shaft.

I have heard that if you take a box of Triangle tips and drop them in a container of water, the hard ones will sink. Don't know if this is a wive's tale or not.

I have four hard maple shafts, all with Triangles. All four shafts are pretty much identical. Two of the shafts have a distinct sound and feedback different than the other two.

Hi

I am down to my last 5 triangle tips. anyone knows where can I order one old box from?
Heard the new batches of triangles doesnt hit just as sweet.

excuse my ignorance but if i go to get a triangle tip installed, do i have to ask for it to be pressed i thought their already pressed .

i don't know what pressed means

i have no idea if mine are pressed or not

how would you know

The installer actually puts it into a press. I am not sure how long they leave it in the press though.

Does anyone know whether Jerry R uses triangles? The tips on his cue play great but I don't know what tip it is other than it is non layered

When I got mine from him in 2011, that's what he used....exclusively.

I don't know if they are hard or soft but
I really like them

Does any one else prefer them

I have heard the older ones are best
if so I want to buy a box or so

they make my cue feel solid

My Joss has a triangle tip. I greatly prefer it to the Kamui tip on my other playing cue, I seem to shoot better and get better English with the Joss.

In my opinion you won't find a better production cue than a Joss at any price. Dan Janes at Joss takes personal pride in every cue. I picked up a custom cue I had Dan make for me about 3 months ago.

I feel the same way about a Triangle tip. I get great english and feedback from it. I have greater control of follow and draw too.

Well my old friend in Chicago, Joe Gold loves triangle tips. All his cues have triangle tips on when they leave his shop. For those that don't know Joe can play some pretty sporty pool as well as make cues. He also good with Ducati's and revolvers! He does test his triangles but I'll never divulge any of Joe's secret recipe's. He is one of a kind!

To properly sort a box of Triangle tips, dump them briefly into a bowl of water. The tips that sink are going to be the better tips. The ones that float or are partially submerged are going to be full of air and will likely fluff or destabilize during the tip installation. These mass produced tips are made from the entire hide. Tips that come from the belly area leather will likely be more problematic.

I've really enjoyed having it and playing with it. I used a $150 Viking cue for years(which was a solid cue, although the tip left something to be desired) and the play and feel I get out of this Joss is just incomparable. The odd part is for as nice of cues as these seem to be, I very rarely see anyone using a Joss.

At either rate, I too am hoping to get myself a custom Joss someday and turning my current one into my boy's if he ever takes an interest in the game.
