Tried Three Cushin yesterday

I got to try some three cushin, wow, you guys are amazing. The three gentalmen that were giving me the tour of your world got me hitting some cool shots. And more importantly, I could start to see some of the shots.

Now I'm not saying that I am going to hang up my cue, and just play Billiards. But I might invest in a cue and try to pick up this great game. To think, I had fun sitting in my chair waiting for my turn at the table.

all kidding aside.. this is a great game.. my only gripe is that I wish I would of started playing a long time ago.

What kind of cue is best? I'm obviously not using my Z2 shaft for this.

If you're going fancy, try getting a Helmsetter (Adam), Longoni, or Schuler. Or try http://www.caromcues.com with Kilby.

If you're going for a reasonable price, get a Gabrielle's Mazin Schooni type or go to http://www.billiardwarehouse.com and find something there. I really don't see any cue that's less than around $300 (w/ the exception of the Mazin Schooni brands).

Recommended thread would be a wood thread on the shaft: makes a two piece cue as stiff as a one!

There are others out there but I really don't know the links to them... give it a try!

I think a Z2 shaft should work fine. The ball isn't all that much heavier. Many carom players use tips of that size, and I think the taper tends towards the more conical taper of a carom cue.

ahh ok. I also have a medium soft Kamuri on there, so I was worried about ruining my tip as well. thanks Bob and SlickRick

Hi Pete, What equipment were you playing on? Was the table heated? Was it a 5x10? I played last night on an unheated table and the difference was huge compared to the heated tables.

I can't tell from the clip. The tips seem large to me. Those balls are 65mm, I think, while regular carom balls are 61.5 and pool balls are 57.3 or so.

yeah, what he said. I was going to play it 'on the side'. Now I haven't played pool in a couple months, and I have a table at home. it sucks you in. I wish I started playing ten years ago, so now I have to make up for lost time.
