Will be visting my son in Chicago this weekend, Aug 3. Catch Card-Cub game on Friday. Then on to the Guiness Tap House, the 2nd best beer in the world, IMHO. Second only to Samuel Smith's Old Brewery Pale Ale.🍺
But the highlight of the weekend will be going to Chris's Billiards on Saturday afternoon.
Never been to Wrigley but looking forward to walking into Chris's.

It's a great room, enjoy the trip

Make a reservation for Pequods Pizza if you want the best pizza in town

Wow, I missed you by just two weeks. I was in Chicago just a week ago and I played 3-cushion at Chris' a few times. It's a special place with a good vibe. I also went to a game at Wrigley Field while I was there and had a blast.

I used to go to Chicago every year for a Book Expo, and loved playing at Chris's and Marie's. The highlight moment for me at Chris's was watching Cliff Joyner running out one rack after another in one pocket, a couple of times when he was spotting his opponent 9-7 and was down 7 to 0.

My lowlight moment at Marie's was watching my opponent make the 9 ball on the snap 5 games in a row to close out the final set of the night. Left busted and disgusted. Something about that table seemed kind of fishy. 🐟

I had to google this lol. Lived in the suburbs of chicago my whole life. Ive been to uno, , Lou Malnatis, Gino's east, Giordano's. Need to try and get to Pequods now to try it.
Going to Chris' billiards is also on my list.
Wrigley field is a great place to go with friends. Its like a massive bar.
And Harry Caray's nearby is a good prequil before the stadium opens.

One of my early memories of Chris’s is the time I was practicing next to Joyner, and he asked if I wanted to “play a couple cheap”. I politely, hastily declined - thankfully he didn’t ask to hold a hundred.

It is unbelievably good, better than Malnatis and Giordano's too

nice old style pool room. too bad most are gone.

and if you are playing nine ball or any game dont play rack your own and worry about him making the 9 or something on the break. rack your own means you get to use your skills in racking to your advantage.
forget about what it should be it is what it is.

Yeah, I'm not gonna head down town just for pizza cause its a 40 min drive, but will def seek it out next time i'm down there.
I won't argue pizza, because everyone has thier own taste buds and preferances. we eat a lot of pizza around the chicago area.
Theres about 14 mid range quality places i could order from just in my area. so i def want to try Pequods now.
I feel sorry for my cousin in texas, they only have pizza hut and dominos near them.... bleh
But i can say the original uno's downtown chicago is amazing. they failed at franchising anything outside of the city isnt the same.
Lou malnatis is always great. and it seems to be the same quality in the suburbs as downtown.
Similar story with giordanos.
Ginos i always thought was not as good as the others. the main attraction i think was for tourists to write on the walls. and the chains in suburbs also not as good as the city.

I was there July 10. It's where I saw the ''girls'' working it @ 10:30 am on the 7-800 block of S. Ciscero as I left Midway. Was raining out, 4 of em had see thru umbrellas, workin' it in the heat of the am.

Cool story. An old but cherished memory for me at Chris' was that if you showed up on a weekday afternoon, you often saw George Fels playing straight pool on his favorite table in the back of the room. He always greeted me warmly during my visits to Chicago. We spent a little time together at the 2013 Mosconi Cup at the Mirage, but by the next time I visited Chicago he had, sadly, passed.

Lots of notables to be seen there, mostly entertaining guys. My fav' was The Beard - a real character.

I loved watching George Fels trying to break 100. Great room. Haven't been back in ages. Thankfully business brings me through in mid-September.
