Trip to Deano's

I had so much of Deano's stuff that I decided t o drive the 2 1/2 hrs to Dallas
instead of mailing it back. I suppose he doesn't realize that just because I'm
kind enough to borrow it, (sometimes for so long he doesn't even remember
what I have) that lets him off the hook on paying the return shipping. I also
wanted to check out his G.C. V he just got set up. He was going to get G.C.1
my favorite. I was disappointed because I had drawn up plans to completely
redecorate his room. Chrome turquoise Naugahyde chairs, jukebox, even
got some small serving trays, a poodle skirt and a bunch of bubble gum
for June so she could run us a cold R.C. while we were playing. Anyway
Dean had some really great cues, the Bob Owen Balabuska Tributes are
knockouts, just perfect in that they are not exact copies but you know
immediately what they are, Beautiful. He has a wood pen Vargus that
is 60", this is the first time that ever hit a ball with one and it hits super
solid making that bonk sound that that I love, he has a 55" carom butterfly
cue also. Now for the coolest of them all, two brand new Rundes. One is
a steel joint 4 point with black, double green, white veneers, ebony points
and butt sleeve, black butt plate. The other is PERFECT. 57" Hoppe,
venners, and ring, and my all time favorite joint, no bands just white,
5/8" butt,3/8 shaft. It looks just like the real old pictures of cues. It is
flat faced 5/16 14 and when you screw it together the last 1/4" becomes
very snug. Only hit a few balls but felt great. I got a turquoise tail fin from
a 57 Chevy that I had planned to give to June to hang on the wall, as the
one thing that would have brought that whole room together, but I didn't
want to open any old wounds,as knew how disappointed she was about
not getting that G,C. 1.

I thought he was the one that received Mark Gregory's Centennial table about 1 year ago. ???

Dean is getting in stroke. Knocked by his old budddy. How many decades do you think dean has had to keep his jack-cussin to himself?

One of theses days, potter...right between the eyes...:grin-square:

No pictures but at least we got a confusing description.
5/8 ths butt 3/8 ths shaft huh:rolleyes::confused:

You are a very honorable man to return his cues. Should have kept them. Opps forgot. Slipped the mind.

At one time I thought I was getting a Centennial but
I wanted to get a table to play on so I took this GC5
in trade.

Someone offered to trade me a perfect GC1 with the blue side curtains
like Will Prouts ,but the man never came through.

My wife was happy because she had no love for the old
white table with blue ,she thought it was ugly.

so when I finally set up the GC5 she did not complain

All in all ,I think this table plays as good as any I ever had,
it looks better than the other gold crowns to my wife.

Either way, I suspect this will be my last table.

It was good to see Jack,I wish he would stop by more often,
a little thing like 2 1/2 hours on the road shouldn't bother him

We are planning on getting into the cue business together,
I have never met anyone who loves pool like jack does.

He and Johnny made those Libras, and Jack had some
ideas about improvements to the hit

Bob Runde just made me a new cue to Jacks specs and
I wish he could post pictures because it really is nice looking

Runde is older than me and threatening to retire from cue making,
he actually shot his age in golf.

Quite an accomplishment.

Funny how things work out,the course I grew up on was completely
redesigned and my game went to pot about the same time.\

I got to hitting my 5 iron only 150 yards, and the game got difficult

I used to sleep on the putting green, wake up and play from morning till night,
my pals from high school would gather there and play football ,run races and
drink beer and talk for hours, then go play pool to win enough money to
do the same thing over again

I played golf with some of the best pool players in the world there.Ronnie Allen,Greg Stevens, and Jack Potter at that little public course.
I got to play Lee Trevino ,who I thought was the best player in the world next to Nicklaus
