Trudeau Interview on Billiards Digest website

I am sooooo confused.

I only thought I was confused yesterday.

But now I am really confused.

I'm glad that BD cleared everything up with that interview.

Keep smiling, tomorrow will be better.

He is out of line by painting a picture of a bunch of ungrateful pool players by contrasting the small number of players who thanked him to the large number of players who asked to borrow money. It isn't the IPT players who are b*tching right now. They're the only ones in the billiards community who are staying loyal to this guy so he should pay attention to who he is insulting. They're all keeping their mouths shut because they're still hoping to get paid. Maybe that's the right move for them. Maybe it isn't, but it's the rest of us outsiders who are b*tching about this whole fiasco. As I say that, I do realize it could be argued that, since we are outsiders, it's none of our business but that would be a weak argument and I don't think I even have to begin to poke holes in that one, do I?

Whatever. I guess I have to throw in the obligatory "I just hope he does pay the players what he owes". There! Now I'm not a pessimist. :)
Why are the players not speaking up? It's part of the whole problem with pool right now. The players will do almost anything for money and will put up with almost anything. I liked Billy Incardona's answer to what aspiring pool players should do right now. He said, get a job. Isn't it a fantasy of a lot of us good players who come to this site, to play professionally? But in reality, there are what, maybe a handfull of guys making a decent living at it? I think KT is something scraped off the bottom of someone's shoe, but is it a big surprise that he is screwing the players over? This guy has a past that cannot be ignored. His goal in life is the promotion of Kevin Trudeau and Kevin Trudeau only. Players, wake up and smell the coffee.

I can't say a single thing that hasn't been said about 35736575687 times already. This guy is full of manure. This interview is about as catastrophic to any remaining shred of reputation the bald-faced idiot still enjoyed as anything I could imagine. This is nearly as conclusive as having him come out on national TV and say "I quit".

Anyone who still has the merest trace of respect for this lowlife seriously needs a lobotomy.

Linda in your conversation with Deno, did you ask him why they lied to the players in Reno and said that the checks were sent but that FedEx didn't deliver it on Sat because someone didn't check Sat del?

This has been one thing that has really bothered me and that they've competely ignored. We all know now that the checks weren't sent... if they had been, then they would've mailed them right back out. The checks were obviously never on their way to Reno... Has any player come out and asked Deno this?

rackmsuckr said:
Yes, I did ask just that. Both KT and Deno really believed that the deal would be done and money would be freed up in time on Sunday, and then the next day, and so on, so they just stalled everyone until it became apparent that it wasn't happening 'any day' soon. The new law did throw a big monkey wrench into the works, but it still looks positive.

I also asked if we would get paid ONLY if the Ho deal went through and I do believe there are contingency plans to get the players paid.

BD: The players in Reno were initially told that the checks were, for lack of a better term, “lost in the mail.” Then a week or so later the story changed to the prize fund being impacted by the Ho deal. What was the truth?

KT: Two things happened. All the checks were written and sent. But the Fed Ex didn’t arrive, which was no big deal. We figured we’d simply sign them on Monday. But come Monday, the financing package with Ho was all sideways. So we just put everything on hold until we could sort it out.

Looks to me like Deno & KT should let each other know what the other is saying. All this "interview" did was prove what we all know... he's an egotistical pr!ck that has no compassion, remorse, or any conscious that I can tell. What a slap in the face to the players... if there's one out there that isn't offended by at least one or more parts to this "interview" then they're the epitome of "ignorance is bliss".

KT Quote

"The one thing that did surprise me was just how financially distraught many of these players are. At the first event a total of three players came up to me and thanked me for the food and a fabulous event. Do you know how many players came up to me asking for a loan? Almost 50. I was a little ticked off at that. Some players were acting like it’s my responsibility to make sure they could make their car payment"

Hey Trudeau - don't hold back tell us how you really feel about the people you owe 3 million bucks to.

Although everyone should have gotten paid on time at the first event, it sounds like those 50 players were already spending money beyond their means.

43 players were invited to play in the first event but all 150 had to be there for the whole week at their own expense. There were a handful of people that were allowed to leave early if KT thought their reason was good enough, but the majority of the other 107 players not allowed to play had to stay for the whole event.

It should be about the way the players feel :(

The comment about the players asking for loans, true or not, was seriously stupid. I would have to say that by and large, the players have been exceedingly cool about all of this and to namelessly slap 1/4 of the group like that was idiotic. He needs the support of every existing professional player for this thing to work, not just the ones he likes or doesn't like.

Hopefully the IPT will overcome another KT PR mistake.

KT“Why don’t you put the money yourself? You have tons.” Well, that’s not what you do in business. You have different funds aside for different projects, and financing is how you generate funds for projects.

KT: If I’m a player out there and I hear that the IPT players haven’t been paid, I may seriously question whether the IPT is going to be around next year and if it’s wise for me to risk $2,000 into a qualifier. (this is a KT quote believe it or not)

So he had the money to pay the players- he didnt do it, knowing full well that this would lead to a decline in participation, less income for him and a distrust of the tour. He would rather wait for financing because this is "how you generate funds for projects" This doesnt sound like a bright man at all. It also sounds like someone who is throwing in the towel.

I mean all he had to do was put more cash in a company wholly owned by himself, back it out after the financing and now you have at least a solid APPEARING tour and lots of qualifiers sending in $$ and happy tour members, no bad press etc. It's a no brainer and that's who appears to be in charge as well.

The very name "Kevin Trudeau" is a PR mistake. And a punch line. The IPT's credibility never stood a snowball's chance in hell with him at the helm.

BD: What would you say to the players who are a little gun shy, and are wondering if they should still give up their day jobs for the hopes of 2007?

KT: I don’t know what to tell them. This is a new business venture, and we’re moving forward. I also think people need to take responsibility for themselves and adapt and improvise based on the scene. This is going to be a situation where over the next few years this business is going to change and evolve. We’re going to be learning about market conditions, the industry, etc.

The correct and honest answer is:

Don't Effin Do It! I'm running this thing and even I can't promise a future nevermind a check.

Good God, this is MUCH worse than I ever expected and I find myself really feeling sorry for these guys and girls who put their faith in him. I never said anything but the naysayers in the very beginning annoyed the heck out of me but it seems they knew something that I did not. This really is a sham I mean shame.

Wow,I cant believe the stuff he said. How can any player ever have any respect for him after these insults. Owners of any professional organization would never say what he has about the people who are gifted with talent to play on a professional level in a sport.I feel sorry for those who trusted this guy and went out and took loans out to quit there normal jobs to gear up for this tour and now are being called beggars basically by the man who said TRUST ME ! He even tries to blame the us open in some way, could you imagine if he had to deal with the 911 tragedy or the huriccane that decimated 2 of those tournaments. At least for over 30 years barry has done his very best and never turned his back on the players. As a fan,my heart goes out to the players:mad:

I'll take my Crow Medium-Rare

Hey Jasper. Seeing as you live in Vancouver can I come over for some crow? I'll take mine Medium-Rare. Maybe we can go play a couple of sets and you can take my money as well.

I'll take Timberly's cut as well. Don't worry I know how to make out a FedEx waybill.

Nick

Here is just a little reminder of some of the things that were said the last time Trudeau spoke to Billiards Digest.

From http://www.billiardsdigest.com/online_chat/trudeautranscript.php

wahcheck <Q>Have you really committed $15 million to this venture?
ktrudeau <A>YES!!!!.....beleive me it is NOT alot of money in TV world.....

iusedtoberich <Q>How many years will you give the tour to return your investment or show a profit? If it never does, will you cancel it?
ktrudeau <A>in one of my ventures my accountant said you are losing 3 million a year...I said..well..in 150 years I will be out of money then!

Curt <Q>Kevin, May I first thank you for your effort to make this tour happen, For the players as well as for us, the fans. In thinking this through how long do you anticipate the ink to be red and how long will you continue to invest if it the ink doesn't turn black? Best of luck to you!
ktrudeau <A>well...thanks...I am already maknig money...but no matter....this is throw away money...and I love having fun..I am buying this 40 million yacht...I am spending that moeny to have FUN on the yacht...I am spending money on this tour for FUN....but I know I will make money anyway and already am..but it doesn;t matter...thats the point

Why would people (players) who were expecting checks in the amounts of $5000 and up at the end of the event need to ask for loans during the event. The statement he made is either wholly untrue or vastly exxagerated. There is no way that a quarter of the field is going to bite the founder for a "loan" when they think they are getting paid.

So, where on all the IPT followers & believers to comment on this post? Linda, I hope the weather is nice in Chicago. You will have plenty of time for sight seeing.

Or what they were promised.

Why do some look for reasons to blame the Players. They were STIFFED!!!!!!!!!

My new company is for you players who believe in me and is called the NEW and improved IPT. which stands for I'm Praying (for a miracle) Tour.......works for me.........mike
