Tuesday Open Thread: Sky v. Alex and Efren v. Jose

I think its about time for a FIGHT NIGHT....It won't be hard to find people to put up ANY amount for Sky and Mike to play 9 ball or 10 ball...somebody just needs to set this match up

Yet the professional pool players, not railbirds, prefer Sky over Mike. Go figure!

Because it's easier to hate the man than beat the man.

He's been black balled from day 1 by a Archer and they all just went along with it.

The problem with pro pool is that it has become a popularity contest. When you outright deny the top players participation it has become a farce.

It would be difficult to go against Jose against Efren. Just due to past performance. José seems to perform at his best against Efren. Also, I've heard that he's the best ever under pressure. That seemed liked a pretty bold statement to me, but I've heard similar statements from multiple people. So it must at least put him in that discussion.

I will say that I've only seen José in tournament play and he didn't snap those off. So I can just pass off second hand accounts.

Daren ==> who personally likes McCready or Hall as under pressure.

With Jose' being 5 years older, and Efren playing Allot as of late I'd have to pick Effie, but it doesn't have to go that way. These two know each other soooooooooo well, that aspect is definitely in play. Also, Jose' getting in the HOF will add to his comfort level. Jeff Carter and I are like these two head to head, even when Jeff played at the top of his game, he almost never beat me in match play, we grew up playing as young men. Last time we were in match play 1989 he asked for a savor.

Scott introducing Efren and Jose. Calls Jose "Leader of the Filipino Invasion" and Efren as "The Magician."

John Schmidt and Mark Wilson as commentators.\

ETA: Whoops! Wrong thread.

In my opinion, someone on here had never even heard of sky until recently, let alone seen him play. In my opinion, it was only when other people gave their opinion to someone's other half, who also had never heard of nor seen him play, that someone started to tout sky as being a worldbeater.

In my opinion, some people should keep their opinions to themselves, and let those with their fingers on the pulse get on with running things. Backseat drivers, eh?
Only seen the Kid playing at derby. But that was enough. He placed high and his composure against top players was great. One of the best banking performances that I've seen also. I would prefer to see him and Alex in bank pool.

Mike plays really good, but he's prone to distractions. It usually rears it's head in "prime-time" occasions. When all eyes are on him. The match could go either way. But I would give Skyler the edge at least 75% of time in this type of match. More, if it is close at the end.

Yeah, Sky didn't cash in the Derby City 9-ball. Mike came 6th beating Shane along the way. I can see why you're so sure Sky has a 75% chance to beat Mike.

Obviously, Sky is, probably along with Brumback and Bustamante, in the conversation for best bank player in the world. Nobody in their right mind would back Mike against Sky in bank pool --- I'll give you that.
