Turning Stone Classic Joss Events

Mike has always put the money where his mouth. Why doesn't the Player's Association go after the deadbeats.

The players want seeding so they are guaranteed not facing each other in the early rounds. If you look at this years results, the best players made it to the end. It's a shame some of them had to work harder to get there.

I like Mike's way of doing things.

no matter what the draw is
there are only 15 to 20 players
who can win the tourney.

I know of what you speak. I put on the first L.A. Open in 1992 and paid out $140,000. The next year the MPBA boycotted my event and many of the top pros didn't come. These guys had been my friends for many years and it really hurt me when this happened. But I learned a good lesson.

By the way the L.A. Open paid out $160,000 the second year and Mark Tadd won $26,000 himself. Later on a few of the pros expressed their regret to me about not playing. One more bad choice they made that cost them heavily. There was never another L.A. Open after that. And several other prominent promoters at that time decided against putting on events because of this.

In this sport the saying is different from the original.

Devided we fall and United we also fall !

They do!

maybe the 100 other tours in the area should try holding a bigger event the week before or after ts... Hell, another event the week before and after, how many big names would shoot then?

The other two open level tours in the area (mezz and predator) always do their homework and try to make it 'accomodating' to players and fans alike. Knowing that the champs are going to be in town, they schedule/bridge their events to make it 'time well spent' in the ny area. Turning stone just took place. And now this weekend (aug 28-29) you have a mezz tour $3000 added event (nyc championship) @ skyline billiards in brooklyn, ny. And the following weekend (sept 4-5) the predator tour (in conjuction with the seminole tribe of florida) has an $8000 added event (empire state championship) @ raxx pool room in west hempstead, ny. If you check the banners in skyline billiards, you'll see who came through!!! And at the predator last year, heads from everywhere were there. It was just sad that that event ran concurrent with the galveston event. But this year both events should be great and have great turnouts. If youre in the area, come check it out.

Wutang

p.s. and Big Truck is coming through to live stream BOTH events!!:)
