The prize money was not increased at that time, so I imagine saving on the carpeting expense just helped Zuglan meet his other rising expenses. But entry fees went up $50 per person for this recent event, so that provided an extra $6,400. The total prize money increased by about $5,600 (from $41,400 to about $47,000), so most of the increase in entry fees went into the prize money.I noticed a couple small changes that may have helped redirect some additional funds to the prize money. In prior years, the floor of the venue was carpeted. I remember seeing most of the top pros break down their cues after a match, and wipe off their tips on the carpet before putting them into the cases. No carpet this year.
