Yes, I admire Mike for his consistency. Clear to see why it's a great tour.

The bigger issue here is not Bonus Ball or payment refund policy or even preparedness by the top players. It's the BCA sanctioning this as a points event and then not securing spots for XXX number of players for a defined period.

I read on FB where Mark Griffin said they did hold 20 spots for the players in BCA points events but they released them 2-3 months before the event. What good does that do? If a tournament is gonna be sanctioned by the BCA, they should consider the state of affairs in pool in general, which is the players often don't know where they will be able to go until a few weeks before the events in many cases, not just because of BBall.

I think they should start a waiting list letting the players know that there are X number of spots reserved for Professional players until X date. after that date they should start moving in the stand by list.

I don't think Mike should have to change how he does things UNLESS he's gonna agree to be a BCA points event.

At this point as far as their demands I am sure it is " take it or leave it". Sort of a natural response when a group with little to offer makes excessive demands. TS will always fill up and if the top pros choose not to play it is no big deal, their presence doesnt make a difference, let more regional players have an opportunity to place. They should be able to see this, looks like SVB and Dechaine get it already. I bet the ABP fizzles within a year from now, maybe less.

Ray, All of the BCA points events hold slots for the top 20 players up until 30 days prior to the event. After that they are allowed to fill them with whomever wants the spots. This is necessary in order that being a BCA points event does not penalize a promoter by not letting him fill his field. The pros know this rule and they know they have to make a choice to pay or not to play. 20 spots were open at Turning stone until December 10. Emails were sent twice by me to all of the pros in the top 20 and many outside the top 20 reminding them to sign up.

So blame whom you will, but the BCA and the promoter did exactly what they told the pros they would do.

Thanks Jerry for clearing that up. I sympathize with the pro players quandary, but promoters also have a responsibility to try to have the best event possible. In all honesty, late sign-ups is often a problem.
