Turning Stone Players List as of 12/26

This was announced as a Mosconi cup event at the beginning of last year. There were two turning stones last year, and Dechaine coming on second last summer gave him crucial points to making the team. Corey Duel and the two Justin's all played in the summer turning stone and were in the know about the Mosconi points for this event.

IMO top American players should forgo all one pocket. For every one pocket match they play while tourney or gambling, there is a Euro/Asian player playing rotation and getting better.

And most certainly, the major rotation tournaments in the states should take precedent. But like another poster said, they have to pay the bills, so it's easy for me to say from my living room.

This is still going to be a great tournament and I'm excited to see the Ko brothers play in person.

Only one of the Turning Stone events last year was a MC point event. Matchroom fvcked this up -- no reason they couldn't have announced in November - at minimum - this was a point event. And limited field pool events, if they want to be a MC point event should have to hold a spot say up to 21 days prior for any of the top 10 point getters from the previous year.

Wasn't there an event last year that was Mosconi cup points, then it wasn't because most of the players were gonna be in China somewhere playing instead of at that event? Was that the other turning stone?
Or something like that?

$200

The entry fee in only $200. The players know this field fills up fast. They should have paid when they were there in August at the last Turning Stone. If they are on a waiting list it is their fault not Matchroom or the Tours. I think Shane and Corey chose not to play and Justin and Skylar just missed the boat.

Stop saying that Matchroom f*cked up and everything, it's like you are already looking for excuses in case some guys won't make in the team at the end of the year.

They announced it late doesn't mean the "inner circle" didn't know about it, they just don't make it publicly. I'm pretty sure those pros who cared enough to ask Matchroom about this would have the answer long time ago.

Mike makes it abundantly clear to all participants the the event has and always will fill. At any of his stops , including the January event, you can pay for the next Turning Stone Classic. It's 200 bucks. You want to play it's very clear to put up the money early. These are professional athletes correct? He won't hold a spot for his best friend. Mike is beyond reproach, no conspiracy here folks.

Justin and Skylar are shoe ins as captain pics Shane's a shoe in on points he will get in the other events so IMHO this about 2 spots not 5

Just to bring a little clarity to this situation, I went back into my email and found a press release/email from Mike Zuglan sent back during October 12.....

Like I stated before, this was always understood to be a Mosconi cup points event, even in the joss press releases.
If players were serious they would've left $200 from their winnings during the last turning stone to secure a spot for this one.

The only reason why some aren't there is because they chose not to be. Shane is going to China and so is Corey. And Mike Zuglan says, there are 128 spots open for August Turning Stone right now and he starts taking entry fees on Day 1 of this Turning Stone. AUGUST WILL FILL UP BY MAY. So get the fees in now.

Mark Wilson knew all of this months ago, as did the players, since they are on Mike Zuglan's email list.
No excuses.

How hard is it for Matchroom simply to announce this a couple of months ago? And how hard is it for players who want to be on the Mosconi team simply to enter a couple of months ago?

[edit - thanks Cardigan Kis, that's very revealing]

The truth is never as fun as fiction!

If Zuglan ran pool you'd wake up to pictures of pool players on your Wheaties boxes. The man is the best TD in the country.

Etc. There are many more.

Yep

Players from Taiwan paid and entered the tournament, but 4 of the top 5 U.S players wants to wait til the last minute to enter and is on the waiting list. Seems like the U.S players needs to get their act together.

I guess we will have to wait and see if any of the four share their reason for not participating be it schedule conflicts or just Not getting their entry fee paid on time.

I believe I read on Shane's FB page that he is playing the Joy Masters Cup Chinese 8ball which is Jan 5th- 10th. I went back and looked but couldn't find it. Maybe someone else could confirm.

As far as a waiting list for turning stone, I don't believe one has ever been posted.

Random question,

Can someone who has paid their entry already sale or give their spot away to anyone they want, or do spots get vacated to people who are already on the list.

In other words, could someone already paid into the tournament give their spot to anyone that they choose?
