Wow, what a finish! At double hill, Mike hooks Jayson but Jayson kicks in the one-nine combo to win 9-8. Just another chapter in this magnificent rivalry.
Jason vs Rodney for a shot at Mika in the finals. This is fun!
Fixed that for you.

Shaw is on a roll....took out Shane, dechaine, earl, now Morris. He is playing really special pool. Very effortless. It's fun to witness.
No, race to 13 for the finals.
Must admit, despite Mika's super-strong pedigree, I figured Shaw would prevail. He was simply on fire and might have won 13-6 again had they played a second set.
Glad to see a Joss tour regular win this event and to see two of the top four spots go to the Joss tour's two best players. Congrats to Jayson.
As we know, Shane is always the guy to beat at the US Open, but the top four in this event (Shaw, Immonen, Morris, Dechaine) must all be reckoned threats to him in October.
Did Mika agree to play 1 set instead of 2? .../QUOTE]
No, it has been a single race to 13 in the finals at Turning Stone for quite a while, at least.
Did Mika agree to play 1 set instead of 2?
Earlier this year winners side Earl played longer 1 set instead of v Mike Dechaine who had 1 loss.
Why would the no loss winner side guy agree to that?
Anyway great shooting by Jayson. Saw last few racks and Mika sort of give up-- poor positioning and uncharacteristic errors.
Jayson is one of best shooters in the game now...the migrants from English 8ball/blackball like Darren, Chris are just damn strong shooters and shotmakers. :grin-square:

He's still not good enough for Mosconi Cup. Mark is sabotaging US chance at success. But let's not go there.

You are talking about the ginky memorial where earl was undefeated and decided just to do a single race with dechaine and dechaine beat him. It definitely wasn't last turning stone, because earl beat sossei who was undefeated at the time in a race to thirteen.

Actually, at this year's Ginky memorial, the final was Dechaine over Immonen. Mike went undefeated in the entire event.
Stu is correct. The Earl/Mike thing was in the finals of the NY State 10-Ball Championship in May at Mr. Cue Billiards. The plan had been to have a true double-elim. finals with the first set to 9 and the second set, if needed, to 7. But Earl (in the hot seat) said let's just play one set to 9, and they did (Mike won 9-6).
