Deno,

Do you have any information about the airing of the World 8-Ball Championship between Sigel and Jones? If not can you possibly ask "The Trudeau"? Many of us are chomping at the bit to see this.

BTW, I am on the emailing list through the IPT website, but haven't received any word about broadcasts. I do understand that it happened only recently, but I thought they might want to air it before the "King of the Hill" tourney to boost ticket sales.

Thank you.

I do have the information and you will be seeing an announcement VERY soon. Furthermore, you are going to LOVE the time slot, promotion, and network it will be aired on. Maybe tomorrow or the next day the announcement will be made. To get it first, I encourage everyone to sign up for the email updates on our web site:

IPT™ Announcement October 26, 2005

INTERNATIONAL POOL TOUR TO PREMIERE ON FSN
IPT World 8-Ball Championship Will Air in Prime-Time on November 17th

Los Angeles, CA. (Oct. 24, 2005): The International Pool Tour (IPT) has announced a major prime-time broadcast deal with the national Fox Sports Network (FSN). The “IPT World 8-Ball Championship”, the historic match between pool legends Mike “The Mouth” Sigel and LoreeJon Jones, will air nationwide on FSN at 10:30pm local on Thursday November 17th. The event will be showcased on a special one-hour edition of FSN’s popular “Best Damn Sports Show Period,” making it the first pool event in recent history to be accorded major prime-time status.

FSN, part of the vast Fox Sports tv family, reaches more than 81 million homes nationwide. It is the only cable network in the country that supplies national, regional and local sports programming. FSN serves as the cable TV home to 62 of the 82 Major League Baseball, National Hockey League and National Basketball Association teams based in the United States.

The International Pool Tour, in announcing its unprecedented prime-time deal with FSN, now is poised to launch 8-ball as a major sport in this country.

“We look forward to this event attracting more than just billiards fans,” said George Greenberg, Executive Vice-President of Programming and Production, FSN. “FSN is happy to help the IPT turn this championship into a world-class event.”

The International Pool Tour’s dramatic World 8-Ball Championship, held at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, featured the biggest prize money in the history of pool. The dramatic 8-ball match between Hall of Famers Sigel and Jones was billed as a Battle of the Sexes as well as a showdown between two living pool legends. The event was attended by an SRO crowd, in addition to the biggest celebrity turn-out in pool history.

The International Pool Tour’s premiere event will air on a special edition of “Best Damn Sports Show Period”, hosted by Chris Rose and co-starring John Salley, Rob Dibble and Rodney Peete. Since its debut in 2001, the popular show has welcomed many of the biggest names in sports, including A-listers like Barry Bonds, Shaquille O’Neal and Mike Tyson.

Mike Sigel and LoreeJon Jones will also make scheduled appearances on FSN’s “Best Damn Sports Show Period” in days leading up to the Nov. 17th broadcast date.

“November 17th is the beginning of a new golden age for pool on television,” said International Pool Tour founder Kevin Trudeau. “In fact, this is the beginning of pool as a prime-time major-league sport all over the world.”

In addition to its national 10:30pm airing on FSN’s “Best Damn Sports Show Period” on November 17th, the “IPT World 8-Ball Championship” will also air on the same date on a number of FSN’s regional sports channels at 9pm and 11:30 pm.

Colin,

Do you know if any of the tourneys this year will be live at all? I can understand starting why it wouldn't be, but I was thinking that it might change later on for mabey the bigger tourneys next year: the world and open. Just a thought. :D

You better ask the boss...I'm just a player. Likely you'll know as much as I do by following the posts here or checking the www.internationalpooltour.com website.

I doubt any events will be live this year at least. At this stage of pool's popularity, or lack there of, it is better to package the programs...post production editing to make them more viewer friendly to mass audiences.

It's not yet like the PGA where people mostly want to watch it for the thrill of seeing who wins live.

Or, "FSN reaches only 81 million homes nationwide." It doesn't reach my home! :(

Yeah me too, I sure hope Comcast Sportsnet Philadelphia puts it on, I know they show the Best Damn Sports Show, so thats encouraging, but what about all the future tournaments?

Seems most of the Philadelphia tri-state area don't have FSN, Comcast has it's local Sportsnet channels only.

So there is a big sportsshow and they will be a 5 minute item between Football, baseball, hockey, golf, soccer ect ect ect ect ect....

Is that the major exposure that was on everybody's mind? Everybody knows you get the name of the book 3 times and see 5 shots before they go to the comercials and come back with a different item.

Nice try

Sorry, hadn't read it good enough...

Nut is this only for the "world championship 8-ball" or also for the other tournaments? And Mr. KT stated "In fact, this is the beginning of pool as a prime-time major-league sport all over the world.”

Can he give any prove that this will be a fact with the IPT?

Can he prove that this is "the beginning" of pool as a big-league prime-time sport? I think he just did....

..see I told u yer, yer were a worker Colin. You got a boss now but u wouldn't listen...kept talking about marxism or fascism or hismism or somethingism..... And youre not even an informed worker.
Do u play 8ball. I play it evry day. So what do think Colin, greed, pride or fame. Motivators or not? Yr already in the top 150 in the world, remember.
Whats the intangible?
...those 9ball tables, those pockets are buckets arent they. Thats why internationally 9ball is a joke. But then I know u were brought up on smaller pockets. Maybe americans like bigger pockets because they'll feel rich that way...Yr boss, doesnt think 9ball xperts will be the best at 8ball either. So, u better be doing yr drills on tight pockets now.
Yr the china connection, 'rnt u, to this syndicate, after all.
So Colin, r u a player?
C, I pay attention. Ru really going to spend a few thousand US$ to go on a wing? Thats big bucks in Shanghai on the street. U'll probably have more fun hustling here with that money.
Y dont ya email 'Natural Cures' and pick up yr eticket at the airport.
Sure I have attention but its like short. Like u, the game of pool suits me perfectly.

Well I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about BD, but yes, I'm gonna wing it, I am a player (probably 10,000+ table hours and 500+ competitions).

My motivation, greed, fame?...well I wanted to play at a high level for many years, and that desire hasn't disappeared, so seems this opportunity is in my lap now, it's the right thing to do. Sure, I hope I win money, but I'd get more satisfaction out of playing well. I must be considered one of the longest odds players. I hope I can surprise a few.

There's nothing better than being involved in a big tourney. I'm delighted to be in the action.

Another question....I heard that there are plans to film all the matches and release them on DVD. Will the prices of these DVD's be something reasonable (say $20), or something ridiculous like accustats prices?
